Surgery cancelled

I am so upset about this … I supposed have my surgery yesterday and after waiting for 5h in front of the OR they told me they had an emergency and we needed to reschedule.

Never even thought this was possible. I was all prepped – finished my bag of antibiotics, my Dr waiting – and then they just cancelled. I am so upset.
Apparently me Dr is angry too on how the hospital handled this – I spoke to her nurse when finally got home and I have to wait now until Monday to speak to the lady who does the booking with the hospital.
You ladies know how stressful the wait is, the bowel prep and working yourself up to all this and then being told just steps away from the OR that it is a no go ….
Now I have to do all of this over again – not sure if I have someone for my dogs, have to deal with work and explain etc.. what a mess.
I live alone – I put so much preparation into this – I could just cry.

Anyhow, just needed to vent – sooo disappointed.

How totally disappointing! It's amazing they couldn't just extend their day. I'm sorry this happened and I hope you can get in again soon. I can't even imagine what I'd do and I'd cry, too. Sending hugs.

That is really unfair for you. I hope they get it together and pamper you like the princess you are when you go in again. Some people!!!!

I am so, so sorry you are dealing with this. I would be upset too. Prayers that you can get this rescheduled right away.

wow I am so sorry that you had to go through this, I would feel the exact same way. Most people do not understand this as they may not have ever had surgery. Hopefully next time it will work out, and maybe for some reason unknown to us it worked out for the best even though it does not feel like it.

Since I just don't have the medical background or shiny surgical toys to get in there and do the blessed thing myself, all I can offer you is my most sincere sympathy.

Pre-surgery, there are very few activity restrictions. If I were you, I'd definitely be using this time to bend, lift, scream, and throw things. Regardless of how necessary this may have been for someone else's life (and it's genuinely likely that your OR time got gobbled by somebody else who suddenly experienced a major trauma and who would have died without access to that room), this is an awful frustration and a major, major inconvenience for you. You have every right to be every bit as ticked off as you are.

I am hot for you as well! i was scheduled for a partial on the 5th, but they at least cancelled it a week prior, but finally got it done on the 10th. Praying they do it soon!

If you can, request to be the first case of the day when they re-schedule. Less chance of it happening again,.

I have been sleeping and eating all day long.
Whenever I wake up my shirt is just damp from sweating - I guess that's just nerves.

Everybody I talked to believes they have to fit me in next week - hope they are right.
I will be a pro at this next time - not looking forward to the bowel prep and not eating part but honestly I did not mind the taste at all - a bit sour but totally doabale.

I used baby diaper rush cream and I am glad I did - the trick is to reapply it vigourasly

I am so sorry for what happen.I would be so upset.This time tell them they need to be SURE this surgery is going to happen.They need to realize how much we take getting ourselves ready for surgery mentally and physically.Especially the pain we are going thru and we have to wait for surgery.But relax and hopefully things will go more smoothly and you get everything ready.My best wishes and take care.
