Ovarian cysts?

When my doctor did an ultrasound, he saw some ovarian cysts. Evidently, I have had these for years because about 15 years ago I have one the size of a grapefruit.

Does anyone else have these? How do I know if I have fibroids as well? Would that have shown up on the ultrasound?

I didn't have ovarian cysts or fibroids, so I don't have any personal experience to share with you, but I did want to send you a and to your post back up so that others will see it and hopefully respond to your question.

the last ultra sound I had showed multiple cysts on both ovaries, and a new grape sized fibroid. As far as symptoms go , I've had a lingering lower backache with some sharp pains on either side both back and front. I figure that is caused by the cysts. the fibroids cause heavier bleeding and clotting and killer cramps. My situation involves other issues so it might not be exactly like yours. The Dr. is going to check to see if the ovaries are viable during surgery, if not there they go and HRT here I come.
