I said wait I thought you were one the whole time I’ve been coming to you because your website and your building advertise gynecology and Urogynecology. He said he deals with bladder issues but is not a Urogyn. I said why the heck are you advertising Urogynecology then?????? He just kept saying because he deals with bladder issues. I feel so deceived. I would have went somewhere else to begin with. He also said that he sees women all the time in their 30’s that have a bulge of tissue at vagina opening and it’s normal after having kids and being almost 40. I said I have to push this bulge in an inside the sausage like bulge which is my urethra takes up vagina how would I have sex and he basically told me to push it up out of the way. I told him I don’t need his referral I already have an appointment Monday. He basically told me I should just deal with it because a lot of women do. I wonder how he would feel if this was happening to his wife. Would he just suggest she deal with it and just move her insides around every time he wanted to have sex. I really wish I would have known from the beginning he wasn’t a Urogyn and how he feels that women should just live with being uncomfortable and being in pain and accept bulging out of the vagina because its so common. Just because it is so common doesn’t mean we should have to deal with it. I’m so glad I found a female UROGYN to go see Monday. I pray she will help me instead of making me feel stupid for wanting these issues taking care of.
Thank you Poetictrisha for letting us know the outcome of your visit. Well, I think you just had your prayers answered. You know the truth now about your Doctor & have the freedom to go elsewhere. I pray you have great success with your new Urogynocologist on Monday. Please do tell us what she has to say & I will continue to pray you'll get the very best care.
Big sister hugs!!

Thank you and I will definitely update my Monday appointment with new Dr. I really feel like my Dr should have at least offered me some other kind of options as He never not once mentioned pelvic floor therapy (I have been looking on my own but haven’t found one in my insurance network yet) he never mentioned estrogen creams which I’ve read on here are an option that might help. He never not once mentioned anything other than surgery to me in the beginning and now he is basically telling me to live with it it’s not a big deal he sees it a lot. Even if I was willing to live with it as far as not having surgery to fix it I would at least want other options or suggestions for relief. I also asked him to check my estrogen Levels and he never did because even though he left my ovaries I still have hot flashes and mood swings. I am just so over all of this. I feel bad about complaining about a bulge from my vagina Opening when there are people that are dealing with so much More serious issues and have serious health problems but I am just not comfortable in my daily life and find it hard to focus. Hopefully I will have better luck with this Dr and she will be willing to help me. Thanks for letting me vent on here nobody I know personally has been through any of this so I have nobody to talk to about it. I wish no women had to deal with these problems because it is really hard mentally and emotionally on us. Hope everyone is doing well

I agree with you. With all the research I've done on female prolapse it only gets worse in time not better if untreated. I don't blame you at all for needing to vent. Your issues are just as valid as anyones. I'm glad you can express yourself..that's what we're here for...vent, support, insight...it's all good.

Re: Urethrocele anybody??

Thanks for letting us know how the appointment went. I'm so sorry it went like you thought it would. Ugh!!! At least it is clear that you do NOT want this guy doing any more surgeries. He kind of helped you out from having any unequivocal feelings about that!

I have a feeling you will have a very good appointment on Monday. I don't blame you for feeling tricked or betrayed, but now you know you are going to a specialist. His telling you to "live with it" probably meant "I don't know how to help you." Again, ugh.

Please let us know how Monday's visit goes. Remember, even if you do need more surgery, it will hopefully result in your feeling much better.

Re: Urethrocele anybody??

I had my appointment today with the new Dr. who I definitely know is a Urogyn and she is going to help me!!!! She is going to have me do urodynamics testing next week and then schedule me for surgery for a sling for my urethra and an anterior repair because the first Dr ended up not doing anterior repair just tacked my bladder up. She said everything else looked good but my anterior wall was sagging because of the urethrocele but she will fix that And take care of any redundant tissue so no more bulges out of the vagina!!! She is going to go ahead and refer me to pelvic floor therapy to get started. She said my tissues look strong and my pelvic floor muscles are actually too tight so pft will help with that. She Did say it will be mid October before I can get into surgery but I can wait 6 or so weeks as long as I know it will be taken care of. But the thought of just dealing with this for the rest of my life like my first dr suggested was stressing me out so bad it’s all I could think about. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. She talked to me for about an hour and explained everything fully. I feel good with having her do my surgery and I am ready to heal and recover fully!!

Thank you so much!!!!! I’m praying that this surgery resolves my issues and it’s the last one I will need for a long time! I just got my appointment for pelvic floor therapy in two weeks and I am going to go up until my surgery and then again after my Dr releases me. I’m going to be as pro active as possible to keep prolapse at bay for as long as I can. I just pray I am a success story and every other woman on here dealing with these issues has success as well. It’s a hard pill to swallow when stuff like this happens and then not having anyone in my actual life that has dealt with this to talk to has been really lonely I am so thankful for this forum and all the women on here who have shared their stories and also responded to me!!

Re: Urethrocele anybody??

Hello so I had my urodynamics test and decided it is best to do the mid urethral sling and then anterior repair. I was given surgery date of October 15 so I have about 5 more weeks. I do have some concerns and Dr is going to see me next Monday after my first pt visit and check them and maybe for a Pessary to wear until surgery. My concerns are that the bulge has gotten more pronounced and especially any time I use the rest room or am on my feet for even 10 minutes at a time and want to make sure it is not pulling my vault down or causing any other problems as I am having more lower back pain and cramping. She is going to do another exam to make sure. I did question her about sooner date but she says she normally will not do repairs until 4 months after a surgery so I will just have to wait. I can manage for 5 more weeks but am anxious about vaginal vault. Some people live with prolapse for years and it doesn’t pull down vault but I am still recovering from tvh and repairs (11 weeks) So I am a little worried. She diagnosed with me anterior prolapse stage 2 and urethrocele. Can an anterior prolapse pull down your vaginal vault and would it happen so soon or would take quite some time? Also the pessary she wants to try is one that can leave in for 3 months so she said it will not need to be taken out anytime in the 5 weeks until surgery but how will I continue pelvic floor therapy with it in? I will see her and the therapist both next Monday but I was just wondering if anyone had any input because I can’t find much info on google. Also I have had recurrent bv and yeast infections since surgery and I am worried wearing a pessary might make it worse. Anyone have experience with Pessaries? Thanks and I hope everyone is doing well!

Dear Poetictrisha,
I don't have experience with a pessary because my prolapse was already at stage 4 by the time I went into see my doctor. Like you, I knew something was wrong because I was having pains in my groin area...a pulling sensation. I wish I had known sooner because I would have tried the pessary route if I had.
It sounds like you've found a good knowledgeable Doctor. I would trust her advice at this point. The pessary will only be temporary until you have surgery & is meant to hold you up in place until your sling is installed. Your doctor can tell you if you should continue your therapy at this point...for now, since she wants to wait a few more weeks before you have another surgery, I would take advantage of the time by doing good things for your body to prepare yourself like eating nutritional food to fortify your body. Perhaps your doctor will allow some light excercise in a prone position that doesn't put downward pressure on the vaginal area. Start gathering meal ideas to freeze for post op & some resting activities to help you get through the healing & keep the mind occupied. Distraction really does helps, lol
I definitely understand your concerns & fears. You've been through a lot this year & it wasn't easy either. You can do this! Someone wise once told me, " trust isn't a feeling...trust is a choice. That has helped me through a lot of difficult situations throughout the years.
I hope something I've said here will help you. I do admire the way you have taken charge of your health by seeking a new Doctor & getting much needed medical advice. God bless you in this & watch over you. Thanks also for the update.

BIG HUGS from your sister

Thank you for your response! Yes I really like this Dr she takes the time to listen to me and my concerns and she looks at all options that are best for me! I was just wondering about the pt because she is the one who referred me but when I spoke to her yesterday is when she said I might want to try the pessary until surgery because I’m so uncomfortable. Just wondering how that will work and if I should just forgo the pessary to do the Pt because she said it will help with my recovery? Idk I guess it depends on her examination Monday and if she feels it has gotten drastically worse than first exam. I’m just really worried about it pulling down my vault but I think that’s because that is one of the scariest things when you get a hysterectomy and such. I’m so uncomfortable lately that I have stopped walking and pretty much try to sit or lie down at all times because I’m scared of making things worse before I can make it to surgery. I have started taking probiotics and collagen and vitamins and trying to eat healthier but I definitely need to get some meals in the freezer because the first two weeks after my other surgery my family was pretty much eating take out every day because they were too lazy to cook anything lol. I really hope these 5 weeks go by fast because it seems like my 8-10 hour days at work are getting harder and harder for me and I also find it hard to focus on any thing else. Patience is not my strong suit but maybe this is my lesson, to learn to be patient. I’m nervous about another surgery but I feel like I know exactly what to expect this time. I am going to take some advice from you and choose to trust that everything will be fine and choose to trust in the process. I appreciate your time and response take care!
