Nancy, I teach second grade. They are real cuties but their parents.... !
My son is idly curious about my surgery, too. The other day I went with him to pick his truck up from the mechanic and he asked me "Mom, is your vagina ok to drive?" He wanted to know if my vagina was removed. *geez*
I was going to continue my self-taught Spanish lessons during my recovery but I cannot concentrate on that right now. My attention span was removed with my uterus! I went down to the street yesterday to pick up my newspaper. I did pick it up but then it must have vaporized because I have no idea where it is. I've retraced my steps but it is g-o-n-e. It never even made it back up to the house. It's like I can't heal and think at the same time!

Geez sleep and you miss so much

Nancy4--6 week no swimming I think I might cry I am hoping my dr will at least let me get in and get out kinda thing. I want to go to the club and at least get a suntan while I am on leave. Um very cool you get a year off and extermely cool you are spending in in Ireland and Spain. Jealous.
We are hoping to get a England/Ireland vacation in before my oldest is off to college in 2 years .
So I see we are still having sleeping issues. I slept last night thank goodness. I think it was a fluck though.
Barnabusa I have a some weird sensation at my incision site as well and sometime it does feel like a sunburn. I also have a tugging and pulling pain and there are still times I hit the painpills. But I do agree if it feels like it shouldn' t be pain you are having give the dr. a call.

Well hope everyone has a good day

Stephanie

Thanks for your support. I do have a question for you all...

Do you still have a deep pain on the left side? Is this normal? I have three types of pain. 1> the skin above and on my incision is tender, like a sunburn. 2> Abdomen feels like it does when I do too many sit-ups 3>That deep down pain on my left side that feels like dr took out my left ovary, batted it around, then thrust it back in. Only the third one sends me to the medicine cabinet for Tylenol.

I don't go for my post-op until August 21. For some reason, he sets up the post-op visits 4 weeks later.
My incision is very tender, and I still have a lot of pain on the left side. I notice it more when I have been up and about for a short period of time. My doctor schedules follow ups at four weeks post opp too. I get to go on Monday the 6th to see what she has to say. I had a LAVH and left both ovaries.

Barnie's Booboos

Thanks everyone for your input. I put in a call to Dr. to have his nurse of nurse practitioner call me at their convenience. Still waiting. Kym... My pain only gets bad when I have walked a lot or been up awhile, also. The leg pain I think is just from my back. You know how your lower back can sometimes send weird little buzzes down your leg? Anyway, I think I may have just gotten impatient with still recovering. As unreasonable as that seems....

Barnie, you are entitled to all/any unreasonablenesses, especially since I think I just made up the word. I am supposed to pay attention to abdominal pain, luckily none yet. But please let us all know what the dr/NP says; same for you Kym -- I'm glad your appt is very soon -- I certainly got impatient this week waiting for Thurs and my visit to the dr. I found having a list of questions was helpful, even if I realized eventually that I'd forgotten some questions I had. But with a list, you can go back to the ones that you don't feel you got the best answers to. Knowledge R us!!!

That is too funny! My 8.5 (he actually tells people that when they ask his age! ) year old has been curious too and wanted to see my cut but I'm not gonna let him, I did try to demonstrate the area on him but he was just too ticklish to understand. But he has asked some things about what the parts that were taken out do...I'm really trying to push "That Talk" as far from me as possible. Maybe 10

I think it was here someone asked about the area being "bare" - I have a bunch of internal stictches but my Doc put that Superglue and staples in. Took the staples out the 6th day -- which if you can I recommend getting some Dermaplast and spraying it right before they start, wish I had thought about it before mine were removed cause that really really hurt, I had over 30 staples and was in tears and sure that the entire waiting room heard me screaming -- but afterwards they stuck some Steri-strips which some didn't even last the day but mine's been bare other than a pad there to keep it dry (Im a bit overweight and my Doc suggested its best)

Oh and thanks for the welcome Its been really a bit of a weight off me to know and see that there are others who are expieriencing the same things I am and to know I'm "normal"

I too still have a discharge, I was told is normal for up to 4-6 weeks. I find just a panty liner is enough, It's so hot where I am everybody keeps offering their pool, and I keep telling no go by the doctor yet. Can't wait to go swimming. Again anybody having trouble with bowel movements, Fiber one bars and potato chips made with olestra are working great for me along with lots of water, veggies and fruit. Gas is still an issue, But I'm not going to any state dinners anytime soon, so my family is just tolerating it.

Dr. called

Well actually his NP called. She just repeated what many of you have reported from your doctors. Gosh, you'd think they went to school for that...

Anyway, the leg pains sounded like the sciatica nerve to her but told me to check my leg often for hard, hot or swollen painful areas and call if any of the pains get worse. The left side pain is the main area of nerves and muscle that got moved around. She said to keep up on the ibuprofens prescribed. The pain is my body's way of saying, "Whoa! Too much!" Sheessh! I was only up to the mailbox and back, about 4 city blocks round trip.

Guess you're not the only one "a bit overweight" huh? Gayla? Even at my age and size I have always been active and a hard physical worker so my pride has been removed with my ovaries. The good news is that I have lost 8lbs.
