Week 11 post op!!!
We are getting there!!!
Has anyone have sex yet and if so what was that like?
Is anyone experiencing lack of libido or a difference between pre and post op?
I really liked sex before and enjoyed it weekly. Now is not even calling me.
In addition to Prince and running, looks like I may have to add sex to my list of mourning.

Hello Azifikare,
Yes we are healing along!
I had sex for the first time this week. Doc had cleared that at 8 weeks but wasn't ready. I don't know how to describe the difference but it was not the same as pre surgery - not bad necessarily but orgasm isn't the same for me. Also I certainly feel like I need lubricant
Afterwards as I was using lavatory, I saw a good size pink tissue like foot\clump and wondered if I should have waited - good hubby we need wait until next time.
Sorry if this is too much private info.

Thanks for sharing! I love the details as is the only way we can validate each other's experiences.
I'm using Replens pre-filled applicators as these don't leak as much as the reusable (one applicator). My doctor said to use it 3x a week since I have no ovaries and found me very dry.
I also used ky jelly for the first time during winter and it was too fast drying which only hurt more. I need to go back to a silicone or hybrid based lubricant to see if the pain lessens.
As for orgasm -same! Not having a uterus changes things. My orgasms are weak now. There aren't any contractions or that intense feeling I used to get in my lower abdomen. I'm sore for at least 2 to 3 days afterwards as well and it takes me a lot longer now to reach an orgasm than before.
I heard vitamin E suppositories help with lubrication and order some on Amazon but didn't arrive. I'm kinda glad since using oils for lubrication tend to stain clothing (so do silicone based one).
I also had this orange like discharge after intercourse and still don't know what it could have been but I didn't spot/bleed lightly my second time other than that weird organgy color.
Please let me know if you find anything that works. We need to experiment until we find something close to normal!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 17-Aug 23,2020
Wow! I am amazed it has already been 3 months! In some ways it feels like there is no way it has been that long, but in others, it feels like it has been longer. I guess its a good thing our memories are not infallible. Some things I am happy to not recall clearly. Haha.
I hope you are all doing well. I am still struggling with a few things. Migraines, weight, sleep. I suppose many of these issues can be unrelated to my hysterectomy and the reasons I opted for the surgery to begin with. I have accepted my weight gain. I gained more than 15 pounds. I had to replace nearly all my pants and half of my tops.
I am still on my own, so haven't had any experience with sex or orgasms. With the pandemic, I am still not dating either, so it may be awhile yet. From what I hear, it could be a bit of a blessing to wait awhile longer.
I have nearly completed my declutterization! Yay!! Only 2 more rooms to go. That is huge! A great accomplishment for me.
My dogs and cat are doing good. I feel quite lonely still, but have grown used to it I guess. My kids haven't been able to schedule a holiday visit and won't be here this season. So, I made my workplace aware I am available to work. Lol.
So, yeah, my depression still lingers. It is difficult to get apointments to see the dr nowadays and have even been unable to get my meds lately for my migraines.
I joined a group online that is a neighborhood chatroom. Nextdoor. It has neighbors from my area and nearby. We have a few different chatrooms for photography, pets, selling/bartering/free stuff, plant exchange and advice, and coffee and books. Its been my sanity saver. Quarantine is difficult for the depressed and alone. My state just went back to level 2 stay at home order.
I hope you are faring well Sisters. Happy Thanksgiving soon.

Same..weight gain, depression, insomnia, panic attacks, hot flushes followed by cold chills and painful intercourse (3 times total).
Basically no changes on my end!
Doctor put me on Vagifem (estradiol vaginal inserts) 10 mcg but I think it's making me itchy instead of actually healing the dry tissues like it's supposed to do. She said scar tissue, dryness or tight tissue because of the hysterectomy is what may be causing pain during intercourse but other than massaging there area and offering estradiol, she didn't offer any other suggestion.
I'm not happy or feeling normal and because I'm not sleeping, I can't seem to function adequately enough to go back to work - aiming for Jan 4 now.
I think I mentioned that I started taking Ashwagandha as it's supposed to reduce anxiety/stress and help fight depression and I think it may be working but still to early to tell.
I also want to declutter as you have done since it's supposed indirectly help clear your mind as well or help ease it. I'm trying everything!

Everything I read about menopause says ask your doctor about dryness or hrt or painful intercourse, etc. Even on this site it makes that suggestion but after many attempts to speak to my gynecologist, family doctor and 2 nurse practitioners, I've realized that they are not much help at all!!!!
They have been quick to prescribe antidepressants for hot flushes or hrt without really disclosing potential side effects.
It feels like there is such a lack of knowledge in the medical community and support that I now feel like a nuisance asking more questions.
Although we are in 2020 it seems like not much advancements have been made in the area of supportive menopause. I can't imagine what the experience of women before us must have been like!
It's no wonder we may get more irritable, cranky, have less sex and gain weight during this phase of our lives.
My take home advise is: advocate for our own health and do our own research!!

I am sorry to heqr that we seem to be on the same river in this. Sometimes I feel as though the hysterectomy wasn't such a great idea afterall. Like I traded x symptoms for y symptoms. In all honesty, had the bloodloss not been so severe, I would rather have kept x symptoms. At least I had figured out how to manage those!
You are correct about the poor standards of information and remedies. I have also had to now deal with having my provider and surgeon leave the practice or retire. So, I am starting with new people who know nothing of my health history or my issues. I also have a difficult time being able to see my providers. My insomnia is not getting any better, my aches and pains are often debilitating, and with the fluctuations in my hormone levels, my migraines are even worse. My new provider is also reluctant to continue my migraine preventative, meaning I have to beg for refills. Why mess with that when it seems to work for the most part?! I wish she would focus on my other issues instead of fighting me on a med that helps.
I asked to be prescribed medical cannabis, but she said migraines are not an approved medical disability foe that. I almost want to just get some anyway. My ex boyfriend had it and we would share it sometimes when my episodes were bad. It seemed to help immensely.
I know the holidays are different this year for everyone, but I am feeling more alone than ever and am really wishing I could fix that. Lol
I am so sorry that the deyness and pain os debilitating and preventing you from enjoying sex. I would be devastated. (Maybe thats a plus on being alone, for me, I don't even know if it is painful.) I do hope you find something that helps. Maybe try to reach out to a holistic pharmacy or herbalist? They and the curandera tend to have a better grasp of the effects of menopaise on the body I think.
I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving my friend and maybe we can trade addresses and send eachother cards and become pen pals? I thank you for all of your support and for sharing with us your journey. We are sisters now and we mist stick together.
Blessings my friend

So sorry that you are both having such bad time. I’ve been back at work full time for four weeks, after two weeks of mornings only. It was really tough and with hindsight it would have been better to have had 8 full weeks off then the two weeks p/t. I’m still tired in the evenings and gets twinges and aches that build up during the day /week but it is all so much better than a permanent period and anaemia. I still find it amazing that they are gone forever and I love it! Hot flushes and night sweats are horrendous so I have taken the plunge with HRT; only a week in so no change yet.
Like you, can’t believe it’s three months. Hopefully you will soon feel all the perks and be back to how you were. Best wishes, A.

I have flushes too! I thought I could handle them but they are horrendous!! Please let me know if you have noticed any differences/improvements with hrt. I may need to go that route too. How long do you have to be on them for? Do you have to go for check ups or blood work to make sure they're working and you are taking the right dosage?

From everything I’ve read, and from my GP, it seems to be that they recommend HRT if you are in surgical menopause and definitely if you’re under 51 which is average age of menopause. I have to see GP again in three months for blood pressure check and to see if it’s working. It’s not yet, but I guess it has taken three months for the flushes to build up and get worse and worse so will take another three months to calm down. They are horrendous! Also got really aching joints so that’s either being v unfit or menopause too, so hoping it will help with both. I will certainly let you know. People are really funny about it - even my gynae said ‘many women manage without’ which wasn’t helpful - and most women aren’t in surgical menopause and maybe more women should try it rather than put up with it! The latter seems to be what we are all supposed to do with mad periods or hot flushes and it can’t be right! Wish I’d had my hysterectomy three years ago, and hadn’t put up with it all but everyone looks at you as if you’re making a fuss. Until you collapse and need an iron infusion! This whole thing has really brought out my feminism!!
