fibroids that grow after menopause?

what about fibroids that grow after menopause. I am 54 and my fibroid has grown in the last 4 years.

I am not sure what your doctor had told you regarding a hysterectomy. My fibroid/enlarged uterus was premenopause--14weeks pregnant. It was causing a lot of pain and the dr. that I had been seeing, for years and dropped our ins plan in May of 2007, after he talked about a hysterectomy in March of 2007. My advise, talk to your doctor and get a second and third opinion if necessary. I wish I would have 4+ years ago, By letting things go to far, I lost lots of core strength and am working hard to get it back, it is not fun. I also ended up very sick before the hysterectomy, losing 14 lbs. -- I am a size 8-10. I ended going to 4 drs., hoping for a vaginal hysterectomy, which I did have. But, the dr. had to work hard to get the left side out and that is where I have no core strength. Just do your homework and talk to others and get those other opinions. Some women seem to rebound fast and others have a difficult time. Try and find a dr. who will work with you. Talk to others that you know who may have had surgery and get names of drs. I wish I would have. I have kept on going, but it is taking much longer than I had ever thought--it is the core strength and being so sick prior to surgery. I hope that I haven't scared you, I just want to to make the best possible decision, learning as much as you can should you decide on surgery.
