Giving up on Lupron Depot

I have been told that when it comes to Lupron Depot, there is no middle ground. Either you have relatively mild side effects or the side effects are so severe you have to stop taking it. Unfortunately I am one of the latter. I woke up this morning with a backache (three weeks into the first shot) that was so severe, it felt as if someone had kicked me in the lower spine with a steel toed boot! Plus having a difficult time peeing and gasto-intestinal side effects have made life very difficult. Now I understand why my gyno was slightly hesitant to give me the drug in the first place, although realisticly neither of us could have ever predicted this would happen.

I suppose I can chalk this one up to experience...in time. Right now it feels like a painful punishment for making a bad choice. It's been said that anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but right now I feel anything but strong.

BTW, when I looked up the side effects of LD, I discovered a laundry list as long as my arm and a request that any "new" side effects be reported. If Lupron helps you, I am happy for you. If it's made or is making your life miserable, you have my most sincere sympathies.

Re: Giving up on Lupron Depot

Hang in there Thinktwice.....I am 2 weeks into first shot and had one yucky day...extreme headache / migraine and nauseas. Could barely function and slept most of the afternoon and evening. Now wide awake! I will not get the next shot!

Re: Giving up on Lupron Depot

I had three shots and I'm giving up as well. The side effects are too much to take. For me, the side effects compounded when I got shot 2 and 3.

Re: Giving up on Lupron Depot

Thank you, Jaxlax and Siamese Lady. Although I wouldn't wish this fresh hell on anyone, it is good to know I am not the only one who has said enough is enough when it comes to Lupron Depot. Now I wish I had a magic wand and could make everyone's pain and other side effects disappear! And Siamese Lady, I've been told the additional shots do compound the side effects of the drug. As bad as I feel with having had only one shot, I can't imagine what you've been through with three! I hope that the LD will clear both your bodies and mine soon!
