Insurance

I am scheduled for my hysterectomy Nov 22. I am blleding and I am in severe pain. My doctor says the only way to correct this problem is by having a hysterectomy. It just went through the precert for my surgery through the insurance and my insurance denied it. I don't know what to do!! Please help!

Re: Insurance

Call the insurance company and find out why you were denied. It may be that they want you to try a different option before approving a hysterectomy.

Re: Insurance

They are saying it is because it is a preexisting condition. I did have an ablation 5 years ago. I am so frustrated and in such horrible pain!!!

Re: Insurance

Ask for an appeal - in writing. They have to review and give you a written decision. If it is through your employer, see if your HR dept can help with the appeal. Lastly, I would think this is not the first time the dr office has been through this, so they should be able to help with the appeal and dr write something that might get it all approved.

Hope that helps! Don't give up on it yet!

Re: Insurance

I agree with Daisee- Do you have a scheduler at your doctor's office? Mine is great and she does all the back-and-forth with my insurance company for me. Makes my life a lot easier! Definitely don't give up- I just saw a post like this the other day and her insurance was finally approved the day before surgery after having been denied!!! Good luck!
