TAH: Increased anxiety ~5 weeks post-op
Hi Ladies. I am almost 5 weeks post-op from my TAH (kept both ovaries). I have had a very smooth recovery, but over the past week or so I have had an increased level of anxiety.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I suffered from anxiety years ago and was put on medication to help with anxiousness to prevent panic/ anxiety attacks. I contacted my GP that used to treat me, but because it has been over almost two years since I last saw him (that is how long the 30 pills he gave me then have lasted), and I don't feel up to making the 45 minute commute to his office, he isn't able to give me a refill. It is amazing how quicly time has gone by since I last saw him. I guess I should be grateful that I have been in such relatively good health, save the whole fibroid issue.
My GP did suggest that I contact my OB/Gyn about the anxiety. He said he thinks they would be able to prescribe me something for the anxiety...
I will likely call today, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had their OB/Gyn write a script for anxiety medication post surgery.
Thanks all!

Re: TAH: Increased anxiety ~5 weeks post-op
I'm already medicated for depression/anxiety, but I expect it's probably not uncommon - even post-op. Could be hormone related - even if you kept your ovaries because sometimes they go into shock and can take some time for them to wake up - if ever.
Maybe what ails you needs hormones instead. Definitely talk to your gyn.
Best wishes.
