I hear you about clothes, too. I bought a couple of “loungey” nightgowns that I can wear day or night, and there is a cool list somewhere in the boards that had a great “preparation” list. I ended up buying a tummy pillow & ice packs, mesh undies for right after surgery, nice undies for life afterward, a tummy binder... I’m a plus-sized woman, so I’m concerned about “swelly belly” making it harder to wear any of my clothes, but I pretty much live in LuLaRoe anyway... hoping it will “give” enough until things settle down. The mama guilt is pretty crazy... I’ve HAD 3 kids, but all were c-sections, and I had a tubal after my 3rd, and have had my own share of “guilt” about not having more kids - but I know this is best for me.

I’ve been really lucky, and have lots of support from family & friends, but I’m still nervous. Very grateful to have found this board!

Blessings,
Tammy
Tammy ... so glad to have you join us. It sounds like you done lots of preparing ... it’s good you have comfy things to wear as you recover. Swelly Belly is your body’s reaction to the trauma of surgery. It does tend to stay around for a bit ... loose fitting clothes are important. on getting a tummy pillow ... lots of pillows are helpful in trying to be able to rest in a bit of comfort. I’m a side sleeper and propping up my tummy helped.

There is a normal grieving process that many of our ladies go through. Please don’t feel guilty ... it is important to allow yourself to work through those feelings. I’m glad you have lots of support from family and friends.

Best wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Apr 18, 2021

Anndy,

I am all online for my coursework and getting ahead before going in. I thankfully have very little I will have to do (stats exam being the longest...) and I'm dragging it out as long as I can! I'm doing really well in stats and only need to get 1/3 of the exam right to pass. Anyways, it is less than ideal, but then I get a long break.

A friend got one six years back and said getting up, BM's will be a little rough in the beginning but it's gotta be done. Walk, wear dresses and rest. That's my plan!

I’m very nervous but know I need to get rid of whatever is going on inside, the dull pain has me worried. Good luck to all!!!
(((Water Views))) All those emotions you're experiencing are perfectly normal, so please know you definitely aren't alone in that regard. As for worrying about your final path report, it's fairly rare that it turns out to be wildly different than what's expected going in, so please try not to let your mind get too far ahead of things.

We do have a Cancer Concerns forum for any issues that might arise specific to your diagnosis, and you're very welcome to check it out. There's great information as well as ladies who've been there/done that to share their experience.

Hope it helps to know others have walked that path you're on and made it. And if we did, SO CAN YOU! Hang in there!

I am also in college. Fortunately, I am not worrying about finals. I have managed to work ahead enough to not have to do anything for a few days. I hope all goes well for you.
