Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Apr 11, 2021

Hi Sisters!!

Having a DaVinci Robotic Assisted Laprascopic Hysterectomy and salpingectomy on Tuesday. I'll be keeping my ovaries and they're taking my cervix. I'm 30 and dx with adenomyosis, the heavy periods were causing me to be symptomatic iron deficient anemic. I've never had kids (and wasn't interested in having them, either) so we settled on this solution.

This is my first surgery ever (if you don't count an endoscopy/colonoscopy or wisdom tooth! LOL )

I'm a nervous nellie right now because I haven't been through this before. My main concerns being going under, nausea and getting my bowels moving as quickly as possible after! I'm hoping to ward off pain with 1000mg Tylenol instead of the narcotics they plan to send me home with.

Spending the day playing some games with friends and cleaning up the house. Getting my recovery room ready tomorrow and just trying to "chill out"

Good luck, ladies!! We can do this and we can lean on each other for support.

My surgery is this Tuesday - well that is if we do not go into a city lock down here on Monday that is.
Either way I still should be ready so I am nesting right now getting my bedroom and bathroom ready. So Monday all I have to do is take it easy. I think I am going to take a long walk with my dog.

So for all the Ladies having surgeries this week know “You have to look at the future with positivity. It’s time to leave the negativity from your body. The doctors will do whatever is necessary for your body. Keep in mind that all is well. Best wishes for your surgery! You will do great!

sudi9600 ... we’re glad you found us too. I know that COVID is causing surgery dates to be up in the air. your surgery will not be postponed. on getting your recovery place ready. It would be good to make sure you have meals in the freezer, healthy snacks, etc.

dear ... remember we’re here for you.

Urinalysis tests show changes in my urine and blood tests show my kidneys look affected too by all the extra stuff pushing against my bladder, and I'll just be glad to say goodbye!
Tiger It’s good to meet you dear ... hopefully your surgery will be able to remain laparoscopic.

You have a lot going on ... praying with you that your surgery will take care of the problems that have developed.

remember you’re not alone dear.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Apr 11, 2021

Hi all! I'm having my surgery this Tuesday, 4/13/21. I've never had fibroid, until this 1. Since my last checkup, last year, I've grown one really large fibroid. My doctors say it's grapefruit size. I will be having a total hysterectomy via the DaVinci. I get to go home the same night and my doctors say I should be able to go back to work after 2 weeks. I'm going to take all the time I need and not rush it though. 2 weeks seems like not enough time to me. I've never had surgery before, so this is a little scary, but I'm not telling my husband and kids that. I wish you all the best and a super speedy recovery.

I have endo, horrible cycles with debilitating cramps all my life, 9 fibroids (1 to 2.5 cm each), enlarged uterus, and urinate ALL of the time. I am so ready to be pain free and feel good.. it’s been a long time coming! I should have had this procedure done 5 years ago, but I still couldn’t decide about having children. Still hope I am making the right decision. Sending lots of hugs and good vibes to everyone this week!
BlondeBomber85. I’m so glad HysterSisters has been helpful. My Recovery Thread was my lifeline during recovery ... it was so good to be with others having surgery the same week.

Best wishes dear.

Hi Nina,

Deep breathes

I had the same diagnosis(plus bonus fibroids and a huge pelvic mass) and the same operation. It was facing the unknown that was so scary.

What I did was “self talk” -reminding myself I would be so happy when these alien fibroids and abnormal cells were removed. I was very lucky that once my pre-cancerous cells were gone, I needed no further treatment.

Just try to keep busy and have confidence in your decision.

You can do this❤️
Best of luck for a safe surgery and good recovery.

I have tried everything, got a second and third opinion... i like my dr a lot...he did my last surgery and is an excision specialist. but I am still scared! I think being a mom of a young kid just makes this all feel really heavy... and i feel guilty for how much the first surgery especially scared her. I was super scared for the first surgery... did ok with the second but now I am super scared again. Cleaning and gardening and doing school work (i am a teacher) to distract myself... listening to meditation tapes at night, exercising, etc. just a ball of nerves.
Leonora ... it is normal to be scared dear. Remember you will be in good hands and your medical team will be doing what they do best ... taking care of you. I know it’s hard to have surgery when our kids are young. Please, pretty please don’t feel guilty about how scared your daughter was. Surgery is a hard concept to understand ... it is hard to see Mommie hurting. Shower her with lots of love and let her know your “owie” is going to help you feel better.

I’m so glad you’re listening to meditation tapes. There are also phone apps which have nature sounds that are very soothing. Sending you dear.

on your surgery dear. We’ll see you on the other side.
