Driving Post Op
Some of us are given restrictions on driving post op, and some of us aren't. My doctor didn't mention it so I didn't think much of it... In retrospect I can see I was driving much too soon... and it was actually to see the doctor himself!
Generally we wait for the following before driving:- Doctor's clearance
- Off narcotic medications for at least 48 hours
- Able to tolerate the seat belt across the tummy
- Able to stomp on the brake with both feet (in case of emergency)
For those who drive a stick-shift, be prepared to find that shifting and holding the clutch can be a lot more difficult and tiring than expected! To be safe, it’s best to practice around the block before heading into traffic. Here are some articles that may help:

Resuming driving post op is liberating and a great feeling - another milestone passed!

A Walk a Day Keeps the Doctor Away!
Short, frequent walks are key to a healthy recovery. Walking helps prevent blood clots, gets the digestive system moving, and boosts circulation which helps our tissues heal. It also helps with our emotional well-being, as staying in the house can get very dull and monotonous. Listen to your body, don’t push yourself, but walk as you feel able several times a day.

Feeling okay. Still pressure/empty feeling in crotch area - but find that walking with small steps helps. I took poor teen son to get his wisdom teeth out this morning. Now taking care of another helps me be not bored at least. But I'm also trying to rest myself. This feels a bit much. Hips ache and if I'm standing and shift, my spine kind of pops right around my tailbone area/lower back. Doesn't hurt, but this is definately new. Anyone else?

Hey! Yeah very sore and empty feeling. Also I feel the back area too. I thought it was because I have a herniated disc in my back but now that you’re saying what you’re saying maybe it is surgery related. I can’t wait to hear anyone else’s take on this. I haven’t driven yet. Stairs really take me out.
Hang in there! You’re not alone.

Mine was the same day as yours (and for the same reason). I'm taking this entire week off with my employer's blessing. I think next week I will mostly WFH with maybe a couple half-days in the office. My energy level is going to drive a lot of that, I think.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 01-Mar 07,2021
Hello!
I had my surgery two weeks ago today. I had a full hysterectomy via a zipper cut. Everything taken out. I had a 19cm mass in my abdomen. They were concerned that it was Ovarian cancer and because of the size, they could not do the less invasive surgery. I have since found out that I had what is called a, Borderline Tumor which means it could go either way. Never heard of it until now. They will monitor me every 6 months for a few years to be sure nothing comes back or shows up somewhere but the Dr. felt good about everything. No cancer! yay! My follow up is April 1st. Told me recovery is at least 6 to 8 weeks but I am hearing it could be longer. Of course, everyone is different.
I spent two nights at the hospital. The worse pain was the from the gas they put inside for surgery. I am not a pain pill person but needed them for the first week or so.
The hardest part for me is not doing anything. Today was week 2 milestone and here I am thinking I could do laundry and clean up a bit. I have to keep telling myself to not twist, bend etc. I feel okay so far. I will get a jab of pain here and there or if I move the wrong way, I will get a jab of pain. I felt vibrating or not sure how to describe it in my abdomen off and on. At first, I thought they may have left something in there! lol I am guessing it is the muscle or just my body adjusting. Haven't read anyone having this.
Night shirts have become my best friend. Can't stand having anything on my stitch area which is from my belly button to the pelvic bone. I used Colloidal silver wound gel on that area and it is healing up really well.
Curious if there is anyone who had exactly what I had done. Seems that most don't get cut like this or have it all taken out. Hoping, there is someone here I can compare notes with.
Heal well everyone!!

I had a friend who had surgery and had stiches in her abdomen. She had back pain. The Dr told her that her body, like ours is compensating for the abdomen since we aren't exactly able to walk correctly. This made sense and made me feel better since I had some back issues one of the days.

Hello Hyster Sisters!
Well, i felt like i was doing very well. Resting and walking, getting stronger each day. Not much pain.
Today i did go up and down the stairs 3 times. Within minutes of the 3rd time, blood started dripping out of my cuff/vagina. SO SCARY. It took several hours, but it did stop.
Is his normal? Will this keep happening as my stitches dissolve?

I’d call the doctor just to be sure. I’ve gone up and down my stairs several times a day (but I try to make it 2-3x at most, but doesn’t always happen because kids)
I climbed onto my husbands work bench in garage today to look for something and Mis-stepped getting down and fell 2.5/3ft. Landed on my butt on a rubber mat. I’ve felt more pain today, enough to be glad I still had Percocet left but no blood.
I really hope I didn’t mess anything up. He’s mad at me for it. (It was he that called asking me to look for something)

Hey I didn’t bleed after the stairs but the pain was so severe I was crying and the family was super worried. I’m taking it much easier and not doing the stairs as much. I do hope this gets better for us all.
