Me too! Mine is 2 days before yours. I've already vomited a few times from nerves. Statistically, I know the surgery is safe. I'm trying not to worry about things I can't control, and just find peace in living in the moment. We can help each other through this!

Re: Hysterectomy 4/15: Scared, nervous

Nervous is normal, but try to take a chance to do something fun/relaxing, just to get your mind off it a bit.( I was flipped out about mine and even with abdominal surgery, on the way home in less than 24 hours. Barely took any pain meds after getting home.) Start your resting nest, freeze a few meals and plan on sleeping the first few days of recovery

Best Wishes

Re: Hysterectomy 4/15: Scared, nervous

Hi slynnbarrios -

All of your emotions, fears, nerves and anxiety are very normal. This is one difficult surgery to face and digest.

Keeping yourself very busy helps take your mind off the surgery. Here are 10 Tips for Preparing for Your Hysterectomy. Be sure to read the related articles. What I found most useful were:
-Meals in the freezer that you can just pop in the microwave
-Easy foods for breakfast and lunches
-Loose fitting clothes
-Recovery corner with pillows and blankets
-Small pillow to hold against your tummy for coughs and sneezes
-Super clean your house (you will not be doing that for a while)

Above all, know that you are not alone in this. We understand what you are going through.

Re: Hysterectomy 4/15: Scared, nervous

Surgery is on Friday...if I think about it I feel sick...knowing that at this moment I feel fine. Getting the house ready...just went through my closet and dug out some leggings and comfy stuff so I don't have to dig for them when I get home. I have 2 small dogs...this is going to be a challenge!!!

Re: Hysterectomy 4/15: Scared, nervous

Oh yes, so normal! My surgery is Thursday and my stress and emotions are all over the place. I'm just trying to stay as busy as I can until then and get everything ready. Hang in there! We'll be on the other side of surgery before we know it!

Re: Hysterectomy 4/15: Scared, nervous

found out at the pre op today they can give me something via IV to calm me prior to surgery. I was like heck yeah!

One of my c-sections I got so panicy that I tried to get off the table and leave...hahahaha! (well funny now not then)
