Surgery and quitting smoking today

I feel like I need to be wished more luck in quitting smoking than with my surgery lol
I just figured I'm not gonna want to smoke right after so why not quit? I smoke outside at home too and my bedroom is pretty far from the door so trying to walk to the door is another reason to quit.
I've smoked 30 years with the exception of when I was pregnant with my son.

I like smoking. But as I get older, I realize how bad I feel and how much I depend on cigarettes.

So here I go !

Re: Surgery and quitting smoking today

Wishing you the very best of luck with quitting smoking (you can do it!) and with your surgery today. We all look forward to hearing from you when you get to the other side.

My hysterectomy was in July 2014 and my husband had a heart attack in April of that year. We both quit smoking and it was the best decision ever. I had smoked for over 30 years. We used the nicotine patches and found them very helpful. I was unable to complete the entire course because I developed an allergic reaction to the adhesive (this is not uncommon for me and it has happened before). When I was in the hospital, a lady in the room next to me would cough and cough and cough uncontrollably. I felt so badly for her as I just imagined how it must of felt each time her body had to deal with the discomfort. I am cheering you on -- you can most certainly do this and you won't regret it at all.

Gentle ((hugs))

Surgery and quitting smoking today

Prayers and hugs! You got this 30 years is a long time. I only started 7 years ago and I feel relax and quiet time when I smoke! I slowed down before surgery and once I returned home I only had 3 (yesterday) my challenge is the same I won't walk downstairs to my car! Which is where I usually smoke so I doubt if I'll be doing any! This could be our chance to shake this ugly monkey! Keep snacks on hand, for me it's smoking curbs my eating so once I slow down or stop I'm afraid to gain weight, do you feel that way? Maybe we can come up with healthier snack options to get us through this. Also remember snacks with fiber (post op) I have a big problem if I don't have morning tea/coffe and smoke. It's hard for me to go without it! Good luck WE got this Girl
