Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I have been 167-169 for the last two years on a 5'5 frame. In the past few weeks from stress and worrying, I have lost 15 lbs already. I have a feeling given how huge my stomach gets from the uterus and such, I should lose another 20 to 30 lbs no doubt from getting all that out and from not eating a lot.

Though even now I only eat maybe once a day and it's maybe a hamburger or salad. :/

I hear women can either gain up to 50 lbs or lose up to 50 lbs. Unsure if that is over time or what. I too hope to lose! If i can go from a current size 14 to an 8, I'd be one thrilled person and that would make this surgery easier to accept.

If I balloon up, I'll really have low to non existant self esteem - not just a ghastly scar but to gain tons of weight? I can see me being on anxiety pills and such for ever.

Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I've lost around 8 lbs since surgery and hope to lose more. Just watch what you eat and take advantage of the need to walk after surgery.
I'm 9 weeks post op now and am looking forward to reaching that 12 week mark so I can join a gym again. I'm 5'2 and hoping to get down to 120 which means I have almost 30 lbs to lose altogether.

Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I've lost four pounds at only five weeks post-op. That's a big difference on my petite frame. I'm getting more active now so I hope to lose more!

Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I actually lost weight following my surgery due to a lack of appetite. Once it came back, I am the same weight I have always been which is on the low side of normal. However, I did keep both of my ovaries so I am not dealing with estrogen issues which can lead to weight gain.

Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns? Will you be using HRT following your surgery? Hormonal imbalance can contribute to weight issues.

Have you considered working with a Dietician or Nutritionist?

Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I am almost 7 months post op. I gained maybe 7 pounds since the surgery and my weight has been fluctuating because it has taken time to find the right HRT combination for me. I tried more exercise, low carb, no sugar, etc....I started using the app, Lose It two weeks ago and count every single calories that goes in my mouth, also no bread or processed foods and I have lost 3 pounds- I will stick with this until I feel comfortable again. Good luck!

Re: Weight loss after surgery success stories

I am also someone who lost weight both before and after surgery but like Weiser, I kept my ovaries. I started my weight loss journey at 190, was 155 the morning of my surgery (7 lbs were the week before due to stress), and I am now 140. If you watch your calories and eat well, which I assume you do looking at your name, you should be fine. Please do not starve yourself because your body needs the nutrition to heal and you want to be healed for that wedding!
