Anaemia

Hello everyone

I was anaemic after my op. Had it been noticed earlier than the day before I was leaving the hospital then I would have had a blood transfusion, but the IVs were out by this time.

When I got home I started eating all the iron rich stuff and pills. I also has a can of Guinness each night! (Try with black currant - like lager and lime). Parsley is very rich in iron too. And vitamin c makes you absorb more iron too!

Six weeks post op I am feeling brilliant!

Costa Rican wonder

When I first met my new ob/gyn my blood count was 6.9. I did not want a blood transfusion if I could help it. I went on a rampage (so to speak) and did everything I knew. I took liquid iron, liver extract capsules, a quality iron + C supplement, ate organic beef liver, spinach and prunes, and citrus fruits to aid with absorption.

Then I found a web site that discussed a syrup made in Costa Rica. It is an old remedy for anemia made from a fruit called carao. I ordered 2 bottles. It smells terrible!!! But when you mix it with milk it tastes pretty good! It does not contain iron, but somehow helps you absorb the iron. I was desperate enough to give it a try.

Anyway, 6 weeks later my count was just below normal!! And 6 more weeks later (when I had my surgery), I was well into the normal range. What a miracle!! No blood transfusions were necessary.
