It's great to have you join us!

Please take a moment to add the surgery date to your profile as many important support features are triggered by this and we wouldn't want you to continue to miss out! You can do that by clicking on “Profile--Hyst Date” at the bottom of your screen or visiting your user control panel. (Remember to then scroll down and “save changes”).

If you've not already done so, please check out our Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support Forum where you'll find all the other ladies awaiting surgery, and feel free to start a new thread there if you have any concerns. (To start a new thread, just click on the "New Topic" button which is located at the top and bottom left of that forum’s main page, or click here). We also have a Pre-Op Page which is packed with information, too.

However, please be sure to visit our dedicated Hints From Members forum for thousands of sisters' tips, must-haves and should-haves! And you may also wish to check out your surgery category in Our Hysterectomy Stories forum, too, where you'll find many hundreds of detailed experiences.

Also, please take advantage of your very own personalised checkpoints which will refresh on an ongoing basis (with a surgery date in your profile) and our extensive Pre-Op Video Library too.

When you have a moment, it would be very helpful if you could tell us a little more by completing the basic surgery information (type/procedure) in your Member Survey. Key details will then automatically appear at the top right of your posts. You can do that by clicking on “Survey—Hyst Type” at the bottom of your screen. Thank you!

We’ll look forward to seeing you over on the dedicated hysterectomy message boards for any support discussions or questions, but hope you'll enjoy local interests and topics unrelated to surgery here in Neighborhoods!

Hi PatongB, thanks for reaching out! Great You have time to prepare. Mines was pretty rushed. Saw specialist on wed and on Friday went to surgery. It went so fast I didn’t have too much time to take it all in. I knew for a month after speaking with GP that this would be my only option for my adenomyosis and multiple fibroids. I’ve heard stories how some waited and didn’t have the option for lap hysterectomy as a result but this was cuz fibroids was growing as in my case. I had a 50/50 chance of an incision. At least it’s winter down under so good time to recover!!

Hello!!!
I’m 7 weeks post lap hysterectomy, retained my ovaries and I’m struggling with PNS today! I look like I swallowed a rockmelon whole. It certainly takes some adjusting, mentally and physically, to how it all works now. Trying to find a new normal is hard!

We're happy to have you as a new HysterSister!

Be sure to visit the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support message board where you can reply on members' threads to share from experience, or start a new one of your own if you have recovery concerns. There is information to help in the Post-Op Page, too. New members in the Pre-Op forum are always in need of hugs, encouragement and information based on the experiences of their post-op Sisters, so feel welcome to reply on threads in that forum as well.

Enjoy getting to know each other here in the Neighborhood forum as you chat about topics of local interest, and we'll look for you over in the support forums for everything related to surgery, recovery, hormones, etc.
