That's funny! I saw my endocrinologist last week for my diabetes and he didn't know I had had surgery. He asked me how my periods where and I told him I didn't have them any more. He asked me if I gave them up for Lent. I said no, I gave them up for life! He knew I had had some problems, but didn't know they were that bad.

I have had at least three people tell me that now that I have had my hysterectomy, the weight will pile on and I will NEVER get it off no matter how hard I try. Before my surgery, I went to the gym alot and I was talking about getting a walking program up and running. People are weird.

I was in the ER one day because my arrythmia was acting up. I told the doctor that I had a hysto recently and he looked at my DH and said " OH you lucky son of a *****, my wife is making me get a vesectomy!"

Lol - this thread is too funny. 2 1/2 weeks after the hyster, I had to have my gall bladder removed. I was walking (well, waddling slowly) into the op room behind the anaesthetist(sp?) who turned and said come on, can't you walk any faster? Erm, no! I had a hyster 2 weeks ago! Really?! she said! You'd've thought she'd have read my notes if she was responsible for putting me to sleep! Oh! The day after my hyster I was sent for an x-ray. they'd lost a small instrument in the op room and my abdomen had to be checked out (you can't make this up, can you?!) 3 radiologists stood there nudging each other, before one of them plucked up the courage to give me a form to sign. 'I'm so, so sorry, but we can't x-ray until you've signed this. We're so embarrassed.' The form? Sign here to confirm that you are not pregnant ....

Oh my but they have to do it. I bet they were so embarrassed but in the same token didn't want t hurt your feelings. I guess there is no good way of asking that. I was worried about my gall ballder too here i was my heart. Never would have thought that. Hope you feel better.

oh yaaa.....

When I went out for my first trip out to Target, there was a lady that was walking behind me with her expecting daughter.....she was like "oh look, someone is ready to deliver, she must be in labor!" Just because it was the end of the trip, I was holding my swollen belly and was taking it slow.....I turned to her and said excuse me!! But no, I just had a Hysterectomy with major complications 2 weeks ago. She then was apologetic (sp?)and replied that she too had one 6 months ago and now is feeling great. OK now, if you already experienced the pain...then why would you assume!!! The other one was at the grocery store. I needed help putting the bags in the cart, so I mentioned that I would put them in there myself but I wasnt to lift anything heavy due to surgery, and the first thing that popped out of her mouth was "OH, was the baby a boy or girl!!" I then replied "Neither, it was a huge uterus with large fibroids attached and oh ya, a left ovary too." She then was like...oh...ahhh, sorry!" and then went to another checkstand. Geez, I'm not looking for sympathy from anyone just a little compassion and patience during this healing process, you know a bit of human kindness. I mean I don't mind letting people know, but when they just dont have any consideration or even think about what they are going to say before they say it, then I don't mind coming at them with something for them to think about.
Well Sisters, Thanks for letting me share my stories with you all. You all are the best!!!
Wishing you all speedy and healthy recoveries.

I'm amazed reading all these posts. No one ever made a rude or unkind remark to me after my hysterectomy. I'm sorry you all had to deal with this.
