What's helping you pass the time? Music? Movies? Books? Which ones?

Is this too far off-topic for this message board, or would people enjoy sharing the movies, shows, and books that are getting them through the hours of sitting still and healing?

I liked a Norwegian film called Everlasting Moments about a woman photographer, and an Italian one called The Sicilian Girl about a girl who stands up against the entire Sicilian mafia (good film but sad ending). Also the Amelia Earhart biopic starring Hilary Swank was perfect entertainment.

Also I enjoy listening to This American Life episodes online (and don't often have time to listen to the entire show in one go). And catching up on the current season of Project Runway online kept me parked in one place for most of a day, I confess. Love that show!

In the first few days after surgery I read a Lisa Scottoline thriller, Think Twice. That was just right for that first week: short, punchy chapters, lots of action and a couple of twists but not too many. I also liked Anne Perry's Long Spoon Lane, one of her Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series I had missed the first time I tore through those, but that took me a solid week to get through (unusual for me for a book of that length).

Hope to hear from you lovely about what is getting you through the days (and maybe sleepless nights, too)!

Checked out DVD of the PBS show Who Do You Think You Are? There are segments with Sarah Jessica Parker and Lisa Kudrow and a bunch of other famous folks investigating their family histories. Not only is it fascinating, and motivational (makes me want to research what I know of my genealogy), but I will warn you it can also be a tearjerking experience. Perfect for recovery.
