TAH 2/21 update

Hi everyone hope everyone is having a great recovery.

Wanted to update you all on a problem that I am now recovering from. I was doing so well on 2/24 but after I took my evening meds, I became very nasueated. I went to lie down and began to vomit. After that I thought I should feel better but I was worse. I had violent vomiting 3 more times and the pain became so great I feared I'd torn some internal stitches and that there might be bleeding internally. I had my daughter call 911 for an ambulance because I could not even move. I was taken to the emergency room of the same hospital I'd had my surgery, they performed countless tests and x-rays but could find no reason for the vomiting and pain. I was glad that they found no internal damage, but the pain was so bad they finally had to give me morphine. My doctor was called and her resident came down to check on me, I was no longer in pain but as my kids and I thought about it, all the pain started when I took the iron tabs and the motrin. Told doctor and I was prescribed another form of iron tab and told to continue motrin and to see my surgeon the next day. I came home and went to bed still nauseated. The next morning I took my morning dose of motrin and vomited again! I finally realized that I was having a reaction to the aspirin! Saw my doctor yesterday and she agreed with me and since I've been taking Tylenol I am getting better, just waiting for all of the drugs to get out of my system.

I am so amazed at how drugs can affect you... good and bad!

peace and much love to you all!

alternative to sitz bath

I thought i would pass this little nugget of wisdom along from the hospital. My nurses gave me an option of doing sitz baths or using the hand held shower head on a warmish/hot gentle flow. Let me tell you I liked i so much I had a cheap one bought for me at Walmart and installed in my shower. The warm water feels really good on my peri area and then I blow dry with a hair dryer afterword. ( Be careful of the heat setting) This tends to help with the itchy kinda baggy feeling down there. Hope this helps. I had a TVH, A/P repair, TVT less than a week ago, good luck all!

Recouping from last Thursday...

Hello everyone...well, I am resting up and recouping from last Thursday's LSH. I'm still awaiting the first post-op bm but am hopeful that something will happen soon. Having a decent amount of pain that I hope will fade away soon. Had a good experience in the hospital ignoring the fact that different meds had me throwing up for the first 24 hours following surgery despite the zofran...blah! I'll be online more soon, just wanted to thank everyone for all of their support prior to surgery. Even just reading other people's stories helped prepare me for my own...so thanks! Fighting the blues but I'm just too tired to feel much of anything just yet.

Hi all,
well, i am starting to have issues and was hoping someone could help.i will post on a new thread too but since we are all the same week maybe someone else is experiencing this. i have been doing pretty good all day, about an hour ago i started feeling "bad". can't really describe it, just bad-achy, headache, sore......like maybe i am coming down with something. but it came on so suddenly that i am a little nervous. not sure if i should take anything or wait it out.......didn't even take my pain meds at nine as scheduled. not in a lot of pain so i don't think i really need it. temp goes up to 99.9 then drops then goes up again, then drops. at first i thought it was hotflashes but i have had a few of those already and my face gets flushed and i feel hot then it goes away after a while. this feeling is not going away.......any suggestions? i so would love to go soak in a tub of hot water but i know i can't do that!!!

Ok ladies - we made it through another day! Let's hope for an even better day tomorrow. Just wanted to share my good news with you all. Got the follow up call from the oncologist's office today to provide me with the pathology results of my surgery - the cancer had not spread anywhere else and they got it all! I will talk to them in more detail at my dr appt on Friday. Tears of joy and happiness in prayers answered today. All of you are in my thoughts as we move towards our better lives one day at a time!

BellaLuna - Excellent news !

Marta - you might have a low grade infection. I'd give your doctor a ring and see what he says. Take good care of yourself, my friend

Hubby is picking up some stool softners this evening for me, I had a high blood pressure scare the morning of surgery, but my bp was great while in the hospital, I told the doc it comes with being a step-mother and he told me we are going to talk more about managing the stress in 2 weeks. Thanks ladies, I know in a few weeks and even in a few months the surgey will be well appreciated and worth it..
I'm having crying spells also..I think yesterday was the first day I didn't have one..and they started in the hospital the morning of surgery..sigh..anyone else know what this is? I have one ovary left..so I wasn't expecting any emotional stuff..sigh..

You've been through a lot...take care & be well.

Hi,
I had a total hyst on 19th due to fibroids. I thought I was just getting fatter! The Doc removed 2 fibroids one the size of a football and one the size of a cricket ball!! I have a vertical scar up to tummy button due to the size of the fibroids.
I am in Uk and only got home yesterday. I hadn't had a BM ( I had started bowel prep 36 hours before op!) and had to cry to be allowed home. This site was really useful in calming me down about that and I have had today, Yipeeee!! And i have lost 10lbs!
I was rough at first, on a morphine drip in HD, etc but feel fantastic now! Loads lighter in every way.
I am really tired and just pottering around makes me then need to rest. I am off pain killers though and feel hopeful of a quick recovery.
DH is being fantastic and now enjoying resting which is out of character for me!!
Good luck to everyone with recovery and so happy I found this site.
