Well, I finally decided to go through with it. I have 5 fibroids, the largest the size of an orange. I have interstitial cystitis and lower back pain that was diagnosed by an MRI as a bulging disc, some degeneration and some arthritis. I also have a tipped uterus. I haven't had a period for two years so no real symptoms coming from the fibroids except that my gyn can't see my ovaries anymore and I'm hoping that I'll get some relief from my back and possibly from my IC pelvic pain. Luckily I don't have frequent urination. Because of the size of my fibroids my hysterectomy will be abdominal, taking my uterus and ovaries but leaving my cervix. ALSO.....I have had breast implants for 19 yrs. My last mammo did something to one and so I needed to change them. My doc said both ops can be done at the same time so I said....Sign me up! I've been planning this since Jan and I am so ready. I've read tons of pre-op suggestions on this sight and I can't say enough how much it's helped. I feel so much better about everything and even more so now that I've shared. I didn't see much about IC so I welcome any comments. Thanks for listening! Butchie

best wishes for your surg. i am sorry your implant needs to be replaced. when you are in the castle, please ask for all of the pain meds you need. don't let anyone tell you you need to tough it out.
