Did someone say shopping?
Ok now this is really sad. Before I got the info that the big U and all her friends are coming out I would shop for fun things. Now when I go into a store I am thinking, new robe for the hospital, new slippers for the hospital, new short nightie that wont bunch up, sweats for being comfy at home. I swear I am obsessed and still no surgery date, good god I am going to drive all of you ladies crazy before I get this thing done. Friends keep asking me if I am okay, that I look tired. Well I am because I can't sleep and when I do I am shopping for the hospital!

I bought two new gowns today and I also don't have a date yet..lol I almost bought new slippers but couldn't find any that I liked. I've got plenty of slippers but I don't have the kind that you just slip your feet in.
I've actually got a list on my fridge that I've started with things I need to buy. My next purchase is going to be big comfy shorts for the swelly belly I'm hearing so much about.

Doing my shopping tonight. Going to leave here in a few and go to my DD gymnastics recital, and then off to Wally World to get my stuff.
When I asked hubby if we could go shopping, he was like now what do you think we need for the house. Do you really think we need anything else.
NO YOU BIG DORK!! HELLO!! We are going shopping for me.

hey, i believe shopping is great therapy! but don't just think about the castle. i bought new panties, new sheets,(no more stains) i wrapped up my 5 boxes of tampons and gave them to my sister. by the time i was done i was ready for this new stage of my life. i'm 2 wks post -op and have sent thank-you notes (to my closest friends) along with a pad. focus on spending the money on fun. I bought one pj set for the castle w/ matching flip flops. it really helped me to change my focus to the positive side of my hyster. maybe it will for you too.

it's good to shop
I bought some awful prescription eyeglasses from the Lenscrafters "cheap" shelf to wear so I don't have to worry about my contac lenses! They are about 1/2" thick I swear!

How about if all of us are obsessed together and drive each other crazy? It's probably better to do this to each other than to our loved ones around us, don't you agree? They can't relate, but we can. LOL
Yes, I share your shopping obsession, too. I've been writing down all the things I need to buy.
I even have a list for of things I need to get from the web post surgery. My dh will be setting up the lap top for me. Isn't that sweet of him? He also got me a hospital bed stand from the engineering department of the hospital where he works. They have some extra ones hanging around. I've read several posts where sisters recommend them.
I read a post today where one of the sisters said she stayed in her nighties so everyone wouldn't think she was recovered. Doesn't she have a great idea? I mean, just because we look good, doesn't mean the insides are healed.

shopping
I did my shopping this morning (robe, slippers, 2 sets of pjs) and then came home and started cleaning the house. Dh keeps looking at me like I've lost my mind or something. I'm just trying to stay busy so I dont think about next Thursday!

I was like you - whenever I would try to sleep my shopping list would go through my head...constantly. I found that even though my surgery was 6 weeks away I solved that "obsession" by going and getting the stuff I needed. So, 6 weeks before my surgery I went out got my robe, slippers, nightie. I came home, washed them and packed my suitcase. Since it was done, the constant thinking about it left. So, if it's bugging you, just go out and get the stuff now. Big deal.
BTW: used the robe - that's it. Ended up using socks because the slippers kept catching on the carpeting, didn't care about my butt showing - but the hospital gown really wasn't that bad...just threw my robe over my shoulders when I went walking. I'm glad I didn't wear my own nightie as I made a mess of the hospital nighties. I did use: chapstick, cd player and cd's. Trust me, when your there and your out of surgery you really won't care what you look like or even smell like! Seriously. I'm the most VAIN person - no one has ever seen me without makeup (besides mom and hubby) and I take 2 showers a day! But I didn't care. By Friday (had my surgery on Tuesday) I was ready for a shower and took one, put on my own nightgown to literally have the nurse come in 5 minutes later to discharge me.

Oh thank GOD I'm not the only one who is shopping like wild. My DH doesn't want to stock up on groceries until payday (the day before my surgery) so that takes that off my mind. I'll just write a list before I leave for the castle, and leave it with him to do.
But I did make it to Wally-World yesterday--new Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck PJ's, matching black "ballet-type"slippers, new undies (Just my Size brand), an enema for the day before (yuk), some Benadryl so I won't sneeze when I get back (ouch), and some Preparation H wipes (I thought my teenage son would DIE laughing at the sight of those--thank God he doesn't know what an enema is --- LOL!!!!)
Anyhoo, I had FUN! I hardly ever buy myself anything. Of course my DH chringed when he heard the amount I spent, but I am the Princess, right???
Why do men think "grannie panties" are so unattractive? They get to wear their boxers--not much difference between the two, if you ask me!
Love you Sisters!
