Dear Sisters,

I've been reading this website for a month or so now. THANK YOU! I finally got enough nerve to register. Not for sure scheduled for anything yet as my Dr. is so conservative. Right now I am taking medication to stop the bleeding and to help me release everything each month.....not all month long like I have been doing. Seems I do have an oversized uterus. She tells me it's twice its size and the lining is thicker on one side compared to the other, which is not normal. The medication has stopped the daily bleeding however I still experience bleeding after sex and sometimes after I have a bowel movement. Has anyone out there had any of these problems? Just wondering.

I return to the Dr. on 4/15. I've had positive and negative thoughts about taking care of this problem. On bad days I'm all for the surgery but on good days I think "I can handle this". The bad are starting to out number the good. And now bleeding after sex is just a complete turn off. I get very dispressed and feel like I am pushing my husband away. He has been so understanding.

Just wondering if others have had these problems......I'd love to hear from you all.

Also, thanks again for providing this website. I have learned so much!!

Just another sister!

More Questions

I have an enlarged uterus and also experience "extra" bleeding whenever I have a bowel movement.

I'm not sure why, but I know it's true.

I also sometimes have a problem emptying my bladder completely unless I "push" a little bit as if I"m having a BM.

My Hyst will be on 3/15...hopefully that will resolve all of my issues!

I am not sexually active, so I can't speak to that problem.
Anyone else????

Hugs,
Steph

Problems

I have an enlarged uterus as well (2 times its normal size) with thickening on the right side. I have a 21 day cycle with bleeding for 10-14 days each month, anemia, bleeding with bowel movements and intercourse for the past too many years to count. Have had problems since I was sixteen and had my two children at 20 and 23. Went into an exploratory LAP this past week and and they found my uterus attached to the abdominal wall, large cyst on the L ovary, boggy uterus, multiple polyps (waiting for results) and adenomyosis. My doctor said that we have the "evidence" we needed to justify the hist. I am leaving the ovaries and cervix since they are healthy. I am a teacher so I have elected to have my vaginal hyst over the summer. Today is my first day on here and I am so glad to hear so many stories similar to mine. I am feeling much better about my decision. I hope you find comfort and resolution to your problem.

Hi JackieD

Welcome to Hyster Sisters!! Be sure to check out the "Checkpoints" in the purple bar at the top of the page for lots of great information.

Glad to hear you're having surgery in the summer which will give you plenty of time to heal. However, if you have a tvh, your cervix has to go. There's no way to save it if surgery is done vaginally.

Hope all goes well for you....sss

Blessings,
Judy
