I need help/advice asap please
I haven't gone through a hysterectomy yet. On Friday (dec 10th) I have an exploratory laparscopy. Before this I had to be put on bcp's to stop my already month long, extremely painful period. Well, the dr found a bit of endometreosis and adhesions. He said that the worst part is inside my uterus and mentioned a hysterectomy. Something about adenomyosis. I also have pcos. I have to go back into see him on the 23rd.
Well anyway, the bleeding from the procedure stopped saturday night. Now I am 5 days into the blank pills in my bcp pack, so I know my period is coming, but I am in so much pain. The pain from the lap was so much better today, I didn't need any pain meds. Is the pain I am having from my period a whole lot worse because of the lap or should it not matter. I am sitting here in pain and I dont know what to do. It's real bad, I didn't think it could get worse. Help!
Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
~Shanah

Hey Shanah,
I wanted to write to try to help...I don't know if I can. Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I'm 22 yrs. old and just had my hysterectomy 3 and 1/2 weeks ago due to Stage 4 endometriosis and cervical cancer. I found out that I had endo when I was 18 (from my first lap) and I've been on BCP, Lupron, Depo shots...and all sorts of painkillers. I've been down this road. In 4 years I have had a total of 6 operations, including 4 laps and 2 open abdominal surgeries (one was an exploratory laparotomy, the other was my hyst). It's the hardest decision...I know. I never even got to toy with the idea of having children, let alone try to. I just got too sick too young. I was in my first semester of college when I got diagnosed, far from home....i eventually had to drop out (I'm finally going back next semester). I've lived a life of pain for so long....I don't remember what it's like to feel good. I wanted that. That was so important to me. I just thought, if it was this bad after 4 years, what would happen if I waited until I was 25? 30? even later than that? Please don't think I'm pushing it, cause I'm not...it was just the best decision for me. I just want you to know that I understand. If you need to talk to me, please know that I'm here. The pain gets so bad....don't let anyone tell you its in your head...listen to your body...and your heart.

I need help/advice asap please
Hi Christina,
I am 24 yrs old. Just turned 24 dec 7th.
These problems run in the family. My mother is one of 8 daughters. More than half of them had early hysterectomies. Starting at age 24. Including my grandmother. Cancer played a part in this for all of them. I am concerned that maybe there will be pre cancerous cells inside the uterus. I dont want to wait too long. My mom had her problems start at 24 and waited until she was 27 to have her hysterectomy. By then she had cancerous cells in her uterus, cervix and ovaries. I wont wait this long. The dr thinks a hysterectomy is in my best interest, I wont fight him. I cant live this way and I am not living the right way, going through this pain.
I was lucky I had gotten pregnant at 16. It was a awful, full of problem pregnancy, but I ended up with a healthy little girl. I had a m/c in 2000. My dr now thinks that the m/c had to do with the problems with my uterus. I haven't been able to get pregnant since then and now was told it's very unlikely that I will ever. I've felt like I never would for a while now, so this feels like the final answer, like I finally have some closure.
Everyone says I shouldn't have this done, I'm too young. That I am making this all up or that there are other alternatives. But there is something wrong, I'm not making this up. I wont take something to mask my problems for a short time and know that I will have to go right back to the way things were prior to the meds. I'm sick of taking things to mask it. I truly believe the Depo Provera shots screwed my body up and started this whole mess. I'm tired of bcp's. I want to get to the bottom of this. I have a family who depends on me. I want my life back.
It's good to finally meet someone who has the same sort of problems, who's also as young as me. I hope we can talk some more. I know I will need support through this. I hope you can offer some Thanks for replying.

HI Shanah
I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain
I do understand some of what you are going through. I had my hysterectomy at age 34 for endometriosis.
Here are some articles to read on endometriosis and adenomyosis
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/lin...n=browse&cid=6
I was told by my doctor that Endometriosis does tend to run in families. It sounds like you have already decided you would like to have the hysterectomy. Please read as much about the procedure as you can. It is not always an easy solution to all the problems you may be having. There are women who have had a hysterectomy for endo, and when the right precautions are not taken, then they still will end up with remaining endo aftrr their surgery.
It is always a good idea to get a second opinion and make sure all your options are available. Once you have the surgery, there is no going back. It is ususally recommended that the ovaries are removed with endo, and that may lead to challenges in the hormone dept. Due to your age, you will more than likely need some form of HRT to protect your other important organs in the body.
We have wonderful resources that are located in the banner at the top of the message boards. Reading and gaining Knowledge is the best thing you can do for yourself now to be prepered with all your questions for your doctors appoinment.
I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the link. I've actually have seen 3 different dr's for this problem and have done lots and lots of research. I dont have too much endo, there was a spot the size of a quarter on my uterus and thats all he found (of the endo).
There aren't many treatment options for adenomyosis. Masking the problem isn't what I want. Adenomyosis is the main problem right now. My periods have last over a month, extreme pain. ( Last night I took 2 percocets and the pain was still too much to handle) I'm trusting the Lord. My problem is and has been in God's hands.
