Hyst or myomectomy?

Hello Again,

I'm going to start over with my post, because I left out some important info!

I'm 46 and have a 14 cm fibroid that is becoming symptomatic (but I still can live with the symptoms). I also just recently had my second abnormal PAP - ASCUS with positive HPV (which is the leading cause of cervical cancer). My colposcopy results were negative, but I've been advised to have a TAH. I'll keep my ovaries, but not my cervix because the fibroid is so close to it, and I guess because of the cellular changes.

After reading many of the threads here, I've learned a lot! Like doctors will recommend the procedures they know how to do and may not recommend other options. My doc said TAH was the best option because the uterus/fibroid is so large and not conducive for the vaginal route. I have a second opinion scheduled for next week, and have a consult with an interventional radiologist as well to discuss UAE.

I don't know the long term prognosis of ASCUS/+HPV, and whether or not I should just have the hyst. I really like my uterus...it's been very good to me :-)

Anyone have any comments or experience with this??
