As some of you may know i am scheduled for hyst with removal of ovaries , i started taking calcium tablets and multivitamins 3 months ago, as i am on lupron with livial, i read the ingredients on the vitamins and they contain iodine, now, with me having an underactive thyroid im not sure if i should be having anything with iodine in it, i dont know, i have just this minuite thought of it , i think i read it somewhere, i just want to take care of myself and make sure im getting enough vitamins before the op (i also eat quite healthily) do any of you ladies know anything about this? i know i should really ask my doc and i will when i get to see him, i just thought id try and get an idea from you first

Are there any contraindications mentioned on the bottle? Call the manufacturer and ask them. fwiw, if you use iodized table salt you are also getting iodine that way

The best way to get a good answer is probably to ask your dr. If you don't want to wait until you see him, give him a call.

i asked my doctor about the calcium tablets and he said its ok to take them, but i forgot to ask about the multivitamins so i did a google on the subject, it says its ok to take them so long as its at least 4 hours after taking thyroid meds so as not to take them at the same time, apparantly taking supplements, even antacids can interfer with thyroid medication, and stop it working properly, of course, i WILL still mention it to my doctor.

You are suppose to take your thyroid meds on a empty stomach, then not eat for 1 hr after taking it according to my Dr. My Dr. knows I take a multi vitiman, he said as you said don't take with the thyroid tablet.
