How is constipation defined?

I know what webmd, etc. says but how do you ladies and your docs define constipation? Weird question, I know, but sometimes I think I get so busy with life that some of the things some people identify as problems/issues are things that I have just been "dealing" with for so long that I don't even notice them anymore.

For me, it is feeling like I have to go but nothing will come out. And I get a bloated crampy feeling. Like most things, everyone's symptoms may be different.

I'd consider myself constipated if I haven't had a bowel movement for at least three days. HTH!
