The Last Samurai

I saw this on DVD with my son this weekend. I thought it was an excellent movie. Made me want to visit Japan! The romance storyline could have used a bit more development, but otherwise, it was perfect.

Has anyone else seen this? What did you think of it? I think it should have been nominated and won Best Picture last year, but then, what do I know! (I've never even seen the Lord of the Rings movies.)

The Last Samurai

I watched it on DVD with my sons a couple of weeks ago... and was glad I wasn't seeing it on the big screen. It was a bit gory for my taste.

I thought it was well done, great scenery if you could get past the blood and body parts... very true to the period in some ways and not in others. My kids liked it better than I did.

Good movie, worth watching (but not for little kids!), but I think the Lord of the Rings movies are better.
