Will I be able to walk?

I am having a LAVH tomorrow. I am also having my knee scoped tomorrow also. Will I be able to walk my gas off? I think I have to be on crutches for a day or two, but maybe not. This is going to really suck.

Will I be able to walk?

Oh my word, I can't imagine having my knee scoped at the same time. Never had that done so can't answer for that sorry. Do you have to have them both done on the same day? Seems like it would slow the recovery for both, but I'm no doctor.

Good luck!

No Way!!!

Chocolover-
I have a torn meniscus in my knee that requires scoping, and for the very reason you state, they would NOT do the surgeries at the same time. After my hysterectomy, they want me up and walking around and with the knee surgery, I would not be able to, so I have to have knee surgery 6-8 weeks later. Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure they have a another plan for you to get you up and around. Hang in there and let us know how it goes.

P.S. My orthopedic surgeon did suggest that I might want to try a walker right after surgery instead of crutches. Said it would be easier on my abdomen at the same time it would take the weight off my knee. Just a suggestion.

Will I be able to walk?

Thanks Marsh.

Julie, my doctors said it was okay. Interesting about the walker. It can no way be as bad as an ACL replacement, so I hope it will go okay. Thanks for the input and good thoughts!

A lot of gas x? This is getting closer and closer. Just hope I will recover quickly.

Will I be able to walk?

Sounds like you are going to have your hands full!

I think that the walker is probably a great idea for you.

Walking does help the gas alot!! By all means, you should also have some gas-x nearby as well as stool softeners to help you along.

I am 5 1/2 weeks post op and if I don't take one or two stool softeners a day then I am miserable.

Good Luck to you!

Will I be able to walk?

They started giving it to me my first day post op in the hospital. I took it every day 2 or 3 times per day whether I felt like I needed it or not. Really made a big difference. Get some now so that you have it on hand.

Also, ask them to start giving you a stool softener while you are still in the hospital. They wouldn't let me go home until I had a bm and could pass gas! Not fun, but it worked.

Keep the Gas-X and stool softener by your bedside!! Lots and lots of water too, and although it will be very difficult for you, try to take short walks around the house as many times per day as you can. This helps get things moving as well.

This was the worst part of my recovery. Once that was handled then the rest has been smooth sailing!!

Chocolover,

Regarding the Gas X and stool softeners. Make sure, if you take these to the castle, that you tell the nurses that you are taking it.

Will I be able to walk?

Okay, will do PJL and Kay m. I definitely wouldn't want to o.d. on stool softners, when I cannot get to the bathroom fast!
