Cancel Training or Go?

I have surgery on 6/22...but I am also scheduled for work related training which is out of town from the 6th thru 11th, then pre op on the 15th...
To top that off I have been extremely tired and have been retaining a great deal of water...
Im wondering if I should back out of training..it's not mandatory...and I feel like I wont have much time to get anything ready before my surgery...
What do you guys think?

Re: Cancel Training or Go?

If the training isn't mandatory...then I would think to just not go....that way you can have the time to get ready for your surgery.....

Re: Cancel Training or Go?

I tried to do way too much before my surgery and ended up getting a stomach virus the morning of my surgery and had to postpone the surgery for two weeks. If it's not mandatory, I would say stay home and prepare and most of all rest and take care of yourself. The better you feel going in, the better you will feel on the other side!

Good luck to you and speedy recovery!

Re: Cancel Training or Go?

You'll have over a week to get ready. Since I only had a wk to prepare, that seems enough to me. What are you doing to prepare that takes a lot of time, and how bad does that need to be done? One shopping trip for food and misc clothing items, possibly pillows, then laundry and vacuuming---that should be the bulk of it. I think its more do you want to go or not? If its really stressing you and you dread it, then I'd cancel. If you want to go, but think you have tons to do, look at your to do list and see what really needs doing and what is just optional? You won't really need everything on a very long list, and the house doesn't need to be perfect. Either choice can work, I think its preference. The training might even take your mind off some jitters----or could be hard to focus on because of the jitters. You know yourself best on that one, so go with what you think is best. Good luck either way and best wishes on your surgery and recovery.
