10 days and counting....

Hi, I just joined today, and I am sooooo glad I did! I am scheduled for surgery (LAVH) on April 13th, and have been reading everything I can get my hands on, but I'm still scared and nervous. Any suggestions on how to calm down a bit? Thanks!!!

Hi I think just finding this site and reading the posts from all of the sisters will help calm your nerves. I know it calmed mine down. I have become addicted to this site, If I don't get my fix, I feel like something is missing.

Ten days for me, too.
I have two pre op appointments next week, and then go in at 6 am the Tuesday after next... I wonder if I'll be able to get everything done before then.
I'm having a difficult time right now, really bad period, the worst I've had, and hopefully it won't drain me too much before surgery. I'm already anemic...
They will know how I'm feeling though, during pre-op. What I'm really hoping for is that I will be able to have the surgery and no setbacks. Each monthly is getting harder to deal with.

Best wishes to you!

Ooh, sorry I didn't answer your question, I'm so self absorbed right now, all I'm doing is moaning and groaning, that's not very helpful, is it? ;D

I think discussing it with ppl going through the same thing is helpful, plus reading how many have had positive experiences. Yet also understanding what can go wrong, and talking about that with doctor and others. I think the more you learn, the more questions you can ask, and the less unexpected to rattle you. At least that's how I see it... not to mention self-calming things like doing stuff you enjoy and "going to your happy place"... hehe, sounds corny, but I'm all for it when I'm feeling particularly sorry for myself.

Thanks so much! One week before me, and the same day as me eh? It is nice to know I'm not alone in this. I am having a LAVH, and they are leaving my ovaries. I've heard that is good. I'm just looking for everything I can find because I have to know what is going on! I'm so glad I joined! Thank you again ladies!

I just got my papers in the mail, I'm supposed to keep my ovaries, but if there's anything odd about them, then out they go. Ovarian cancer runs in my family.
I've been spring cleaning, (a little at a time) and sometimes thinking about the surgery and sometimes not. I'd like to get to the point where I know I've done everything humanly possible to make this recovery as easy as possible, and then just take things one step at a time.
I think this will also greatly enhance my prayer habits!

Thanks. I've been cleaning like mad, sewing, rearranging, you name it, I'm doing it to keep occupied!

Well, now I am down to the night before, and really trying not to be nervous about it. Sort of working. UGH.... how did you all make it through the night before?!?!?! I'm glad I found this place!
