Still scared..still crying..but things are getting better

For all of you who read my first post last Friday and gave me all your support, wanted to let you know I'm making progress.

Spoke with a friend and, eventhough I'm going to mess up her birthday (10/7), she is going to pick me up at the hospital and I'll be staying at her home at least for the first couple of days after surgery.

Still got a lot of things to think about but at least this is a first and I wanted to let you know.

Thank you...again...I'll never stop thanking you all!!!!

Sounds like you've got a great friend and I doubt she feels you are messing up her birthday. I'm sure as a friend she is more than happy to help you out.

Sending you s and prayers in hopes that things will go smoothly for you. We're here if you need us.

Blessings

Hola mc,
I''m SO glad you'e got someone to take you to the hospital and a place to stay for a few days. Before my surgery the friend that was going to take me to the hospital decided to go to a conference instead. I didn't think it would bother me (trying to be a tough, independent gal) but it did. I immediately broke down in tears. She's my rock and I really wanted her there. But I asked another friend. I was amazed at how willing my friends were to help me out. I even had a couple more offers of places to stay. I know I would want to help someone out if they needed it. It feels good to know you can be there for someone. So I doubt that you are messing anyone's birthday up. Having a hysterectomy is a big deal and it's nice to have someone there to hold your hand. I think because it's a common surgery, people don't realize that it is still major surgery. It's also a very emotional surgery. I've had other surgeries but nothing compared to the emotions that surrounded having a hysterectomy.
Hang in there. I'm thinking about you.

That must be a tremendous weight off your shoulders!

Continue to take good care of yourself. Your surgery date will be here before you know it.

Still scared..still crying..but things are getting better

Well, after the breakdown I had last Friday, I started to talk to my friends on the long weekend. I never thought it would be so hard to tell them that finally I was getting the surgery and that I needed help, that I didn't know what to do, etc., etc. Every time I started to talk about it, I started crying. Still can't talk about it without getting teary eyes. (I hope I stop crying before the surgery date comes!!!!)

Anyway, I still feel I'm invading my friend space and privacy (she's married with a kid that is like my niece), and sometimes I think she said yes, because didn't have the heart to say no.....I know...I know...I'm having crazy thoughts and my mind is playing games with me....bear with me, pleaaaaase...

Well, just like Hoola told me, all my good friends (which are like my extended family) offered to help me one way or another. Have spoken already with three (besides my "hostess") and got one that even told me he had a lot of vacations day and could take a couple of days off from work to be there with me during the day, while my friend (the one I'll be satying at) works. He ask me not to worry (yeah right!), at least not to worry about getting help, just to worry about the surgery. They told me they would be there for me at the hospital, they'll take turns...I mean they covered almost everything I was thinking about and even more.

I'm not feeling so lonely anymore, but I still feels I'm being a burden to them....I know...I know...once again..sabotaging myself!! I guess this is going to be a "roller coaster" and believe me is been very hard to keep my mind thinking straight and to concentrate on all the things that has to be done....work, mom, preparing, etc.....

Ladies, I don't know what would I do if I didn't have you!!!!!
