Help, wet britches

I'm trying to keep my cool, but very upset right now. I had TVH with anterior repair- large cystocele on April 17. I have had no serious problems with bladder leaking until today.. Was visiting my neighbor and choked on a potato chip- soaked my pants. Fortunately I was sitting on a vinyl chair. Was hoping that repair and kegels would get me completely dry, and after reading a few posts, maybe I am worrying too soon, but don't know. I can't take off work much for a long time, and I am so diappointed that this happened. Anyone out there have any advice or ideas?

Sorry to hear you are going thru these struggles. I am not sure what to tell you. I developed a vagina fistula 4 weeks post op from my hyst. Wet britches is a very upsetting thing!!! I would make sure you let your doctor know. They thought my leaking was a UTI for about a week, but it wasn't. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there and don't worry about being upset. That is perfectly normal. Sorry I don't have more info for you!

marty-- I am so sorry this has happened to you. Did you have similar symptoms before surgery? Did you have any type of TVT, transvaginal tape, with your surgery? Sometimes having a HYST can bring on these symptoms you didn't have before. Please let your doctor know. If it only happens when you sneeze or cough (or 'choke'), it's called stress incontinence. This is often solved by having a TVT or TOT put in under the urethra.

Mainly, since you are so very recent from surgery, you may still be dealing with swelling and other issues such as that. You may just need to give yourself more time. The number 1 thing I would do though is let my know.

Sending a and extra +++ thoughts....

No, I had only anterior repair. I had some stress incontinence before, but was mostly controllable with kegels. I was coughing pretty badly, so I guess that is what made it so much.
