My surgery was three weeks ago. I started having bleeding like you’re taking about toward the end of week one. I was put on “bed to bathroom” rest and it helped but didn’t stop it completely, and every time I did much at all it got heavy again. I went in last week, 2 weeks post-op, to be checked and my doctor found a lot of granulation tissue that was causing all the bleeding. She used silver nitrate to cauterize the areas (not fun, but worth it). I had several more days of limited activity and now have no bleeding at all. I hope you can get yours resolved soon, as I know it’s worrying as much as it is annoying. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. My OB asked if we could wait one more month to see if things taper off before doing a cauterization. I've already had a uterine artery hemorrhage two weeks after my hyst, so I'm not eager and disappointed to hear I might need another procedure.

Re: Cervical "mini" period bleeding - what to do? (retained cervix)

Ladies, please note that mini-periods from a retained cervix is the subject at hand. Mini-periods require both a cervix and at least one ovary. If you didn't retain your cervix, you have a vaginal cuff, and vaginal cuff bleeding is not the same thing as mini-periods from a retained cervix.

Please keep this in mind with your responses. Thanks!

Cauterization can be done at the OB office and is not a “surgical procedure “ they just apply silver nitrate at the top of your cervix, doesn’t take that long.

Re: Cervical "mini" period bleeding - what to do? (retained cervix)

Unfortunately, my doctor didn't feel silver nitrate/cauterization would fix my problem. He's suggested hormones or removing my cervix. I am so upset to face a 4th surgery involving my tainted reproductive organs. Don't know if I can do it. SO UPSET!

Jan 2020: Cervical "mini" period bleeding - what to do? (retained cervix) UPDATED July 2021

Hi,
So I had my surgery in Jan 2020. Kept my cervix and both ovaries. On Feb15th, I started bleeding-went from pinkish discharge to bleeding. This went on until April. I was so upset and discouraged and even inquired with my MD, as I thought they didn’t do something right. They said this does happen, could be residual or since this was when I normally get my period, could be related. Covid was at its peak and all of a sudden I stopped bleeding. No discharge or bleeding. Felt like I stopped worrying about it because my focus was now on Covid since several friends and in-laws contracted it. It’s hard to explain.
Then on Thanksgiving day- I had some mild pinkish discharge for 3 days and went away.
I think I cried for months because I went through so much and felt like this was never ending but it will stop. Takes time...
How this helps.

Thank you for sharing. I'm just under two years out from my surgeries and I'm still bleeding and passing clots. I'm meeting with a new OBGYN specialist with these bleeding issues next week. I'm wondering how destructive it would be to have my "angry" looking cervix removed.

Last OB said my cervix is inflamed and looks angry.
