The right decision!

I just wanted to share some thoughts with you. After being diagnosed with Hyperplasia a couple of months ago I agonized over whether to have the hysterectomy. My doctor gave me two choices. With either one I would have to take 10mg Provera daily to stop the heavy bleeding that I had been plagued with. Anyway, I could either have surgery soon or take the meds for 6 months, repeat the D&C and then possibly a hysterectomy. Obviously I chose to get the surgery sooner rather than later. With my surgery this coming Monday I started a fairly heavy period two days ago! The doctor said surgery was still fine. All this does is tells me I definitely made the right decision! As apprehensive as I am.... I want to be rid of this problem that has been with me for at least 5 years! Thanks for listening. I'll keep all of us scheduled for Monday in my prayers!

The right decision!

Thanks Jennifer! I assume you're doing well since you're about a month post op. I sure hope so. I agree about the importance of a positive attitude. I work with cancer patients and have learned through them. My concern now is whether I have something other than hyperplasia since the Provera has stopped working. I won't relax until I hear the results of the pathology. Thanks again for thinking of me!

The right decision!

Hi Marilyn,

It's does sound like you've made the best decision for you. I was so like you with all the bleeding and they did a D&C and put me on provera which they kept putting up. I started on 20 mg daily and ended up on 150 mg daily before the bleeding stopped and that was 6 months after first starting.

As Jennifer said a positive attitude can go a long way. This site is a wonderful resource for all of those preparing to have their hysters and I hope you have found that it helps you prepare for your journey.

See you on the other side.........Karen

The right decision!

Thanks for all the support. This site really has been a "God send" for me. My problem now is I have this long list of stuff to do between now and Monday but I keep finding myself on the website! There's such an abundance of information that I just want to keep reading. The whole list probably isn't that necessary anyway!
Hugs to all of you,
Marilyn
