fibromyalgia and hysterectomy

Greetings All ,

i was wondering if there are any sisters out there who have fibromyalgia and hysterectomy.
my surgery is Wednesday 28 june and i am anxious about my pain concerns on top of what i will have to deal with post-op.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have fibro. I think the post op pain meds you are given will probably cover any fibro pain you may have. Have you discussed the meds with your doctor? I requested Toradol and it was very helpful with my pain.

God bless you!

p.s. my brother and family are in Tokyo

thanks Lenehaney

How have you been feeling post op especially with the fibro? I have my pre-op app't tomorrow so i will bring up the issue then. Is toradol a narcotic?
Thanks again

What branch of the services is your brother in?

I also have FM. I think lenehaney is right. I wondered about the same thing and everything was fine. Good luck with your surgery. Waiting really is the hardest part.
Bless you!

fibromyalgia and hysterectomy

I have fibro too. I'm 8 weeks out and started having terrible chest pains under my left breast. I went to the doctor cause I was worried with all the stress emotionally and physically I was under. He did all the tests that he should and concluded that it was the fibromyalgia causing the chest pains.

I think I had toradol too in the castle to suppliment the IV pump. They said it was an anti-inflamatory drug. (right??) As far as pain from the surgery goes...I've always had more trouble with pain. I think it's all related to the fibro too. They had to give me something stronger than the morphine in my drip in the recovery room. They couldn't get the pain or my stats stable until they did. I kept the stronger med in my IV until they took it out.

Good luck...just talk about your concerns with your doc AND the anesthesiologist. Then they can take care of you before it gets out of hand.

My hyster was 2 years ago so I feel great now. I don't know much else about Toradol, except when my husband was in the hospital with kidney stones, the nurse told us it was a great pain med.

It's true, the waiting is the hardest part.

p.s. my brother is a teacher in Tokyo, as my sister in law is Japanese.
