SUPER scared!!

I never think I'm going to be nervous for surgery... I've had several... but I always am! I am having a Laproscopic supracervical hysterectomy TOMORROW...... I'm getting really nervous! The anesthesia ALWAYS makes me vomit, no matter what they do... and I'm not excited about throwing up after this kind of surgery! Anyway... I just wanted to vent my fears! They will call me this evening to tell me my surgery time. Yikes! :/

What is "supracervical"?

Supracervical (if I'm spelling it right) just means they are going to leave my cervix. It was a tough decision to make, but I decided I wanted to keep it. Better recovery times, according to what I've researched. Anyway, I really HOPE I don't throw up! Ugh. I think I'm going to eat REALLY light food today, then nothing after like 7... maybe that will help? Thanks!

Thank you for the clarification.....I am having everything removed as I have endometriosis....I wanted to keep my ovaries, however the doctor indicated that she would have to do another surgery, down the road, due to the endo.

I usually feel nauseous from the anaesthetic too - they gave me some fizzy drink to drink and some meds prior to surgery - as well as something during surgery to ward off being ill. Sending you positive vibes for tomorrow - good luck

Hey everything will be fine. As for the nausea and vomiting they put a patch behind my pill that really helped I didn't get sick at all. Good luck

You'll get through this. Remind them of the effects that the anesthesia has on you and maybe his time will be the time that they'll have the right thing for you to prevent the vomiting.

Hugs girl, You will be ok. I was not nervous until they started to wheel me back to the OR room then i was really scared. But once i got back there within a few secs they put something in my IV and then had me sit up to give me an epidural and thats all i remember til waking up in recovery. You will do great girl!

i get major heartburn all the time sometimes so bad i am sick from it they gave me something to drink before they took me in this time and i was fine afterwards, but they also gave me a ton of meds in post op as well to ward off me getting sick. you will be fine, from what i hear you can request some patch as well for nausea they put it behind your ear and it works better for some people. not sure what it is but it may be worth a shot as a preventative.
