Total vaginal hysterectomy: stirrups/hip concerns and pre-op appointment?

Has anyone who had a TVH had any hip problems after being in the candy cane stirrups? I have heard they can cause hip problems.

Also, when is a pre-op appointment usually scheduled? Is it through my doctor or the hospital? I live in a po-dunk town and haven't had a scheduled surgery in 12 years and that was in a different state.

22 more days until surgery. Good thing I have finals and clinicals to worry about instead of the surgery!

I just googled candy cane stirrups. I've had hip issues for a long time and I'm not sure if I'm glad I know about those beforehand or not. I might try to do some hip flexor stretches between now and then.

I also live in a small town and my preop is scheduled 6 days before my surgery. I'm supposed to go to my doctor's office for preop there, then go to the hospital afterwards for preop there. I don't know if that's the norm or not

My pre-op appointment for my surgery was scheduled via the hospital. It was about 6 days before my surgery. They did blood work, EKG, BP, pulse, height, weight, etc. - almost a mini physical. They also did paperwork and other hospital particulars.

Talk to you doctor about your hip problems and the stirrups. Maybe something else can be done.

My back and hips were sore. But a heating pad fixed that. You should be fine.
