Cyst and left ovary OR full Hysterectomy with left ovary?

hi guys I'm new here so if I post to the wrong board, please let me know. I'm looking for advice and my main question, Would you do it again? I'm scheduled for surgery 12.5.2016. Here's my story.
I’m 36, 10 years ago I went through abnormal pap, scrape, Cone biopsy and freeze in that order. Afterwards, I was all clear but still nervous it would come back. Not too long we had our second child. Since then I haven’t had any issues except heavy monthly bleeding and painful cramping (and pressure) for the last year or so. Last week I went to the ER with severe pain and went to see my ob. He says I have 2 cyst on my left ovary, one fluid filled and one blood filled. He says I need to have them removed and the ovary. With my past and current heavy monthly cycles, he recommends a full hysterectomy, both tubes and left ovary (leaving only my right ovary.) I have been with him for 19 years and trust him, however I’m nervous. I will have a huge piece of mind knowing the dysplasia will not come back and my cycle will be over. However, I am very concerned about my sex life afterwards and being so young. All I am hearing is loss of sensation, desire, full body orgasms, etc. My husband and I have a great sex life and this concerns both of us. How likely is it for the dysplasia to return? Should removing just the one ovary help with my monthly cycle? Should I change my surgery to just the Left ovary and cyst? I would like some extra opinions and thoughts on which surgery to consider.

Hi kethrussell to HysterSisters!

I am so glad you found this site! You are posting in the correct spot, as you have your surgery scheduled.

Having a hysterectomy needs to be considered very carefully. This is MAJOR SURGERY, and you have to consider the pros and cons of this surgery with your current health condition. And you are correct - you are young for this. You can always get a second opinionon your condition - you may have other options.

I cannot answer your medical questions - a doctor is better equipped to provide information, given your condition and situation.

Sex after surgery is different for everyone. Some say it is better, some say worse, and everywhere in between. Here are some articles that may provide information on intimacy:

Consider your options very carefully. You can cancel your surgery if you wish, as long as it will not endanger your health. Whatever you do, make the right decision for you.

Just know that you are not alone in this. We are here for you.
