Surgery concerns

my surgery is planned for 12/12/05- my concerns are, how will I handle the holiday with a handicapped parent?
Also, I have a hx of blood clots of lung. My surgeon told me if all is well I can go to work in 6 weeks. I drive myself 1.5 hrs one way. What about shovelling snow in the winter?? I hope not

sending you comforting Prayers for a
complete un-eventful successful surgery!
If I had only known that I could of felt
"this GOOD" afterwards, I'd of had it done
4 years ago, and saved myself all this pain
and years of horrid suffering. No woman
deserves to go thru what I had to endure.
Wish you the very best....
God Bless

Surgery concerns

((( sleeplessinphil ))), I have a handicapped adult DD. I needed a lot of help with her after my tah/bso. I was pleasantly surprised at how willing peoplle were to lend a hand once they knew that I needed it. Don't be afraid to let people know when you need help - family, friends, neighbors, church members.

The amount of time that you need for recovery can differ a bit depending on the type of hyst that you have, anything extra that needs to done , and your personal health. But it's usually 6 - 8 weeks before the dr will release you to resume normal activities ( slowly ). At 6 weeks , I would have found a 1 1/2 hour drive a bit too much. I think that shoveling snow would have NOT been something that I could have done ( in southeast Texas, not a worry for me ).

Best wishes, I'll be praying that all goes well for you.

I don't think I could have handled that long of a drive after only 6 weeks. Say nothing of working in between. Might want to wait another couple of weeks if you can. I wouldn't plan on shoveling snow either. Get a neighbor kid or someone to do it for you. That sort of activity could cause you a lot of trouble. It's not worth it.
