New Member- early hysterectomy

Hello all,

I am 31 years old and having a hysterectomy in just over a month. I have suffered from endometriosis for many years, as well as chronic pelvic pain, SIBO and pelvic floor dysfunction. I was officially diagnosed with endometriosis during my first laparoscopic surgery, which was actually preformed to remove an IUD that had been improperly placed two years before, causing it to cut through my uterine wall and embed itself into my stomach lining.

After my second laparoscopic surgery was unsuccessful in providing any type of relief to my pain, my doctor began suspecting Adenomyosis. She has suggested hysterectomy in hopes of elevating some symptoms and pain.

At only 31, I’m nervous about the surgery. I’m concerned about the chance that it doesn’t help. I’m worried about the long term effects on my body and I’m also (vainly) concerned about what it will do to my figure.

I have so many mixed emotions surrounding this surgery, I don’t even know what to think anymore.

Questions you have can be asked by starting new threads in the Pre-Op forum.

It's important to know that it is possible to have problems with endometriosis even after surgery. If you have questions about that, you can post them on the Endometriosis Support message board instead of in Pre-Op. There is information to help in the Endometriosis Articles , and you may want to consult with an endometriosis specialist if you haven't already done so.
