adenomyosis

I had my period from 9-17 thru 10-4!! I went to the Dr. and he said that I have adenomyosis. He put me on Jolivette (I've never been on the pill and I'm 42 yrs. old) I started it the next day and got my period on 10-13. I was a couple hours late taking the pill one day but can't believe I have a heavy period again!! I'm so frustrated and sad. Does anyone else have this condition and any insight? Thanks. :

Re: adenomyosis

I have it too. My cycles vary from 26-29 days, very heavy and very painful. Dr. Says it's like endometriosis, but on the inside if the uterus. The tissue invades the uterine wall and prevents it from contracting properly, thus more bleeding. It mimics all the symptoms of fibroids, so it's hard to diagnose. The good thing is, it's not cancer. Ablation may be a testament option, as are hormones and even an IUD. Ask your doctor more questions. If you're like me, the more I know, the less I fret. Best wishes!
