Anyone else have a hard time falling asleep at night

I have been lucky to have other things going on in my life to stress about as well, so when it gets time for me to go to sleep it is a blessing.

I just had finals yesterday(1 more semester left of nursing school) so i am sure that the sleep issue will be terrible this weekend. My surgery is on the 11th!

I hope that the sleepless nights end for you soon. Tylenol PM's work well for me.

Anyone else have a hard time falling asleep at night

To all my sisters in waiting, I am post op 3 days now and believe me it is not half as bad as you may imagine. The waiting is the worst part and the more time you have on your hands, the harder it is. Here is what I did to get my mind off the worry just one week prior to my operation: I threw myself into a challenging project, working out a new business plan. I did my taxes, in other words I was so busy hurrying to finish up things that before I know it I was in the operation and out of it all. All my self created hurry was intentional, I could have put things off till "after" but this is the best way I knew how to deal with all the free-floating anxiety. Mundane things like cleaning and cooking do not count because you are on auto pilot and the mind still frets. What helps is working towards a dream or project you are excited about. It worked for me. Please know that this will be behind you soon. My prayers are with you - I know exactly how you feel. I was there. Big hugs...

LSH on 3/4/08. Uterus and fibroid removed. Retained cervix and ovaries.

I can sooooo relate to that! During the day, I tell myself "no big deal" plus I'm lucky. Three ladies in my office have had Hysters themselves (two in the last 6 months!!!) so I have great support there and on this great site, which I visit almost every day. But the nights are a whole other story. I fall right to sleep most nights, but then, almost every night, I wake up and then the mind starts going. There's nothing to occupy me and I lay there freaking out about all this. It's tough, but I still have a ways to go (not over until March 27th). I just keep telling myself this will all be worth it in the end. Maybe we'll make it into Guiness book of world records for longest time without sleep! LOL! Seriously, hang in there. We'll right here with you!
