Go figure

So I'm having this hysterectomy because of the horrendous bleeding I experience.well as usual my period comes on time.2 weeks after the last one ended.excrutiating cramps just like I expected and all that.even more heavy than usual.i figured this one was going to be a doozy but was prepared to handle it.then I wake up day 5 and nothing.all day nothing.the next day nothing. Its day 7 and nothing.now I dont know if it is planning a sneek attack or what (been known to do that) but I'm a little annoyed.it just figures I sign up for this surgery and all it entails and my 2 week period from hell stops early.i mean should I wait and see what happens with this before I go through with this surgery?i dont know.my pre-op is tuesday.should I bring it up to my doctor.I'm just confused.

Re: Go figure

Back in December I had to have a biopsy. I was told to call the dr when my period started and come in because it needed to be done during. Knowing how bad, and how long I bleed, when I got my period on a Friday afternoon I knew I could wait until Monday to call. Well wouldn't you know that I only bled lightly for two days! I swear AF knows we have her number and is trying to play with us. I can't make a decision for you but if you are planning and want the surgery, this one scenario shouldn't change your mind. Unless you chose to have the surgery based on one period, and I am sure you didn't, I wouldn't back down.

Good luck with your decision and surgery.

Re: Go figure

I agree. AF really knows how to mess with us. I have bleeding all the time. 09/14/10 - 02/12/11 is just the dates for 1 period. It stopped for 5 days and then started up again on 02/17/11 and is still going strong. I was so excited too, my anniversery was the 21st and was hoping to celebrate for the first time in 3 years. My GYN started the process for my TAH on 02/24/11 and she's been vengeful ever since.

Re: Go figure

My periods were very irratic often 2 a month for last 6 months and spotting on the other days I ended up having a heavy period a week after one had finished and ended up in middle of period during surgery. But 9 weeks on post TAH it's the best think I have ever done

Re: Go figure

Don't ever underestimate AF she will mess with your head every chance she gets. For 1 year before surgery I would bleed very heavy for 14-17 days get 6 days off if I was lucky, and start all over again. Wouldn't you know when I finally got into my Dr I had went 31 days with no bleeding. So of course when they check my blood count it was normal, on the low side of normal, but normal. The next day AF showed up and stayed for 21 days that time around, gave me 2 days off, and started back in again. When I finally had my pre op appointment 2 days before surgery my blood count was at 7 when it should be 12 or above. I had to be admitted into the hospital the night before surgery to get 2 pints of blood before surgery. AF quit 5 days before surgery, but she had been there for 39 days.

Re: Go figure

I had exactly the same thing! I set a date for surgery to deal with bleeding issues - I was lucky to get 7 days a month with no bleeding. That month I went 4 weeks with nothing!! I was dancing around, thinking that menopause was coming early, when Bam - back it all came, and I bled pretty much for the month before my lap hyst.

Now 3 weeks post, and really happy to have done it - no more bleeding - ever!!!!!

Re: Go figure

My last period was the best I've had in many years, 5 days with a "normal" flow. I had the same thought as you, should I cancel the surgery and wait to see what happens? Then I decided it was due to nerves, stress over this whole thing and as sure as I put the surgery off the next period would hit with a vengence. My opinion is it would be very odd that out of the blue your periods change for the better, permanently. Personally, I'd go through with it, but the decision is yours.
