Overwhelmed

I read somewhere about gas after surgery. Can someone help me w/gas info? I read hints about constipation and trying applesauce, but I can't remember what to try about the gas left behind. I went shopping today for some incidentals; magazines,toothpaste,etc...

I just had my TAH yesterday and I am still at the hospital. I was dreading the gas pains, but I haven't had any yet. In fact, I've been passing gas all evening without pain. I'm still on a bland liquid diet (emphasis on BLAND) so that may be what is helping me. I've been walking a bunch (be sure to bring a light bathrobe!!), and that is really helping too.

I know you are nervous, but so far the waiting truly has been the worst - said by someone who hasn't had a BM yet!

I've read that Gas-x is a good thing to keep handy. I'm bringing some with me to the hospital. ( Just let the nurses know you have it, and ask if it's ok to use them). My big day is Friday too, I have to be there at 7:30. I'm anxious too, but ready to get this done. I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Thanks for response! Hope all is going well, I'm really feeling anxious today; did a bowel prep this morning so can't hang around to long ---- if you know what I mean.

Sorry you're having to deal with that bowel prep thing. My doc didn't order that for me, just no food after midnight tonight. My stomach has been pretty upset today though, so have been running in and out of the bathroom anyway. Trying to stay on mostly liquid diet. Hope all goes well with you. Try not to get to anxious. Remember you are not alone in this.
