Getting in pre-surgery shape w/ a broken foot?

Hiyya,

Of all the dumb luck! I broke my foot in one of the freak "oops" things. I was walking on my driveway in a pair of sandals, my foot slipped, and I broke a small bone in my foot. Preface this with I had just started a serious walking regiment to get in pre-surgery shape. (I broke my foot July 10th, and I am just now getting back on it.) My surgery is scheduled for Sept 21st.

Now let me just say that I am a SERIOUSLY unmotivated person, but I was really psyched up for this getting in shape business. I know it can speed recovery time and all that. I have been sitting on my butt for quite a while now, and was just wondering what now. I still have some time, and I will try to remember to do my sit-ups (sigh), but any other suggestions. I have two small children that make exercising at home a real chore (read that, I would rather not contend for floor space with two little kids who call kamakazi sommersaults "exencizin" and think it's funny to hide my hand weights). I have no money for a trainer, and even if I did, I tried using my eleptical machine for the first time since my "oops" and just gave myself a first class pain in the foot!

Getting in pre-surgery shape w/ a broken foot?

Hi, I'm so sorry about that broken foot - that sounds like no fun at all as I love to clog dance. One of my fellow dancers broke a bone in her foot once and was out for quite a while as it healed. Please dicscuss what you can do and shouldn't do with your dr. I'd hate to see you have a set back by overdoing. With 2 small kiddos, that wouldn't help you at all Slow and easy might be the way for you to go at first.

best wishes.
