Fibroids/Polyps/Anemia

Dear Sisters,

I am new at this, so bear with me. My cousin suggested this website for support and education, so here goes....

I am 43 years old, married with two children born via c-section about 11 years ago. I have had D&C's in the past for heavy bleeding. In the last three months, I was diagnosed as having an enlarged fibroid. This was causing my heavy bleeding and clotting. I have been bleeding since 10/17 (my LMP), had a D&C on 11/08, and am STILL bleeding every day, though not as heavy. The gyn put me on Provera, 10 mg., each day, and iron pills for low blood.

Please tell me, is what I'm going through at this time normal? If you've had a D&C, how long before the bleeding stops? The doc also recommended a hysterectomy at some point, and I've been reluctant to do so (I started a new job in September).

I would appreciate it if anyone has been through what I am experiencing. I'm soooo sick of bleeding every day. I also will need a TAH because there is a lot of scar tissue from the cesareans.

Thanks for listening!

I've never had a D&C, so can't really offer any advice, but am posting so this will move back up to the top and hopefully someone with experience will answer! I had a TAH due to a large fibroid, but I never had any bleeding (not even a regular period) for 4 months prior to the surgery. Even though I really didn't have any symptoms, I opted for the TAH because I didn't want to lug around that big fibroid any more, and I never really wanted children anyway. I'm so glad I did! I feel great, and never have to worry about cramps, periods or birth control again! Good luck!

Hello..
I had a D&C for bleeding....I hate to tell you this but it didn't work. I went 2 months bleeding everyday. The doctor put me on some medicine(I think Premarin ?????),it did help with the bleeding but made me cramp bad. Quit taking it and woke up the next day pouring and had to go to emergency room..Doctor then told me I had to have a hysterectomy.... I had a total abdominal hysterectomy the end of September and I don't regret it one bit. It's not a picnic but it hasn't been too bad. The worst thing for me was bad gas a few days after surgery and not being able to sleep good till my hormones regulated...guess what though????????? NO MORE PERIODS...thank goodness...good luck. I will remember you in my prayers. I hope you do well.

I now see how much support one can get from this website! Thank you both for sharing your stories with me...I don't feel so alone.

My bleeding HAS stopped since Thanksgiving Day (hooray!). I'm feeling a little stronger thanks to the daily dose of iron. I think my period came right after the D&C, so I got hit with a double whammy!! The doc did say that she could schedule me for a TAH in December.

I'm hoping things will slow down a bit now. Gee, is this what was meant about the woman with the hemorrhage problem for many years that Christ healed--does anyone remember that story? I wonder if she suffered the same ailment as we do now......
