Hi Sue,

Welcome to hystersiters!!! You'll love it hear everyone is great.

Could you provide a little more info? What type of hyst are you having, do the doctors know what the pain is coming from?

Hi Sue
and a big welcome to Hystersisters.
Sorry you are having to go through surgery, but I'm glad you found this site, prior to surgery. There is so much great information here, and so many wonderful ladies to share your fears, and thoughts and friendship with.

Your doc has said he suspects endo. I'm guessing that you haven't had a diagnostic laparoscopy then? When is your hyst scheduled for?

Have you tried other options besides bcp? Just curious, as many of us have been through tons of different options before coming to the finality of a hysterectomy.

Only you know what is best for you. We are here to discuss anything you want. And you can be assured that you are not alone on this journey.

Hi Sue,
I too had heavy periods my whole life. Only the last few years it got worse. So much in fact, the pain felt like I was in labor. My PMS was also increased. At 38, I have four children, two of which we adopted from foster care last year. My doctor and I opted for a hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries. Very scary thought to me, but couldn't continue life as it was. I have read stories from the good to bad. This is my first post to this site, as I have to tell how great I feel now that it's over. I'm only 6 days post op, but feel great! The surgery itself, the hormone patch, I'm not sure exactly but I feel better than I have in a very long time! I hear it's a long slow recovery. I'm prepared for that. Just so happy I already feel a change for the better! I want women to know there can be an extrememly positive side to a hyterectomy!
