Re: What is your favorite book?

I love Sue Grafton's alphabet murder series. Nothing like a quick fun read about a strong lady who outwits the bad guys! They go quickly and are entertaining.

I also love anything by Maeve Binchy. Something about her Irish stories relaxes me. I'm off to read the rest of this suggestion list!

Re: What is your favorite book?

Thank you for starting this thread! I'll visit a bookstore tomorrow and see if i can get all 4 of the Twilight series to read a few days after surgery but re-read the Anne McCaffery books i got out of storage while my concentration isn't all that great.

My mom had a wonderful sense of humor and got me a bookmark that said, "I'm a novel lover, but i'm booked tonight."

I have to agree with the Twilight series too... I hate the movies but LOVE the books. Also, on another note, when you are bored and want to laugh, get on mylifeisaverage.com or fmylife.com....both really funny!

Re: What is your favorite book?

I'll second the books Evangelina posted! I am also a big fan of the "Harry Potter" series and those will be at my bedside for sure. I have always loved Jimmy Buffett's story-telling in his songs, so it was no surprise that his books are fun adventures too- I loved "Where is Joe Merchant?" and "A Pirate Looks at Fifty". Those are easy to just lose yourself in, and his children's stories are really good too.
What a great idea for a thread- y'all have inspired me to check out some new reading material!

Re: What is your favorite book?

Just about anything by Elizabeth Berg. I especially liked the Pull of the Moon, Anita Shreve is great and I've really enjoyed Barbara Delinsky.

The Shack is amazing. It really had me thinking. However,
I caution that it is religion-based so if that's not your thing or if it would offend you, now is probably not the time to read it.

I totally forgot to mention that and now that you posted, I hope it is okay that I posted the name of that book. It was just so different.

I also love the Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Plum, series, James Patterson anything and lots of other mystery type stuff.

Re: What is your favorite book?

Favorite book.... humm... can't pick just one.

Lots of great authors have already been mentioned. Here are a few more.

If you like mystery try Susan Witig-Albert or Sarah Andrew.

Crafty? Try Maggie Sefton's Knitting series or Jennifer Chiaverini's Quilting series.

Romance/Fantasy? Shana Abe - the Thief series - mega original

Laura Childs - The Teashop Mysteries - very easy reading.

Janyne Ann Krentz - just released a new series - lots of fun

Dianne Setterfield - The Thirteenth Tale - mysterious all round good read - no. 1 on my book list for 2009

Happy reading all,

Kayakdreamer
