PATSS - how is it even diagnosed?
I've been having right-side, lower pelvic pain for a year now, and for 9 months I was using very high doses of non-stop Ibuprofen to kind of control the pain (although many times it didn't, and if I didn't get it in on time, it would take over 2 hours to start working when I did remember to take it). Because I've had a tubal ligation and an endometrial ablation, my GYN assumes that Post-Ablation Tubal Sterilization Syndrome is the problem, mostly by pretty much ruling everything else out, I guess. I've had multiple ultrasounds and a CT scan and each time there's "nothing wrong with her".
She put me on Depo-Provera in June - after about 3 weeks the pain subsided enough that I mostly don't notice it, and I'm ok with that (it's still there, but I don't have to live on ibuprofen - although my digestive system is still shot to all heck). She indicated to me through her nurse that I will come in for one more shot in August, and after that there should be enough hormones in my system that it'll just work until I go into menopause (?). I'm 53 and haven't had even one premenopausal symptom, so as far as I know, it's going to be a while yet. For anyone else who was diagnosed with PATSS, how was yours diagnosed? How have you handled it? From what I'm reading, a hysterectomy probably isn't going to be effective. TIA

Re: PATSS - how is it even diagnosed?
You mention you had ultrasounds done, were any of them internal or inter-vaginal ultrasounds?
I recently had one and that's how I found out I had a hematometra in my upper uterus (some lining regenerated after my ablation surgery and it's causing a LOT of pain and digestive issues).
I am also doing the Depo shots to see if they help any. I will be scheduling my hysterectomy for March/April 2019. (I have a history of BC becoming ineffective because of my PCOS). I haven't been diagnosed with PATSS but I know I have a lot of the symptoms. From my understanding of it, the diagnosis usually is given because of the symptoms. I don't think there's a conclusive test done.
If you don't feel a hysterectomy is going to be effective, make sure you advocate for yourself and seek a second opinion to see what other options may be available for you.
Wishing you health and love! <3
